Name:- Pandita Ramabai
Born: 23 April 1858, Karnataka
Died: 5 April 1922, Bombay Presidency
Full name: Pandita Ramabai Sarasvati
Pandita Ramabai’s journey from Arya Mahila Samaj to Mukti Mission was a spiritual as well as a social journey in which she invested her energy to reform conditions of the Indian women. She embraced Christianity as a faith of her choice, but never succumbed to the dogma of the religion, the Church’s authoritarianism and sectarianism. Further, she never gave up her Indian identity and remained rooted in her culture. Although she had embraced the religion of the coloniser, she remained a staunch nationalist and maintained a consistent, anti-colonial stand. In recognition of her works and dedication, the Government of India issued a commemorative stamp on 26 October 1989. A road in Mumbai, known as Pandita Ramabai Marg, is also named in her honour.Throughout her tragic life, she stood for the cause of women’s emancipation through education, self-improvement.

BIG SALUTE to All d UNSUNG HEROES who helped us achieve Freedom.
The Bottom line is that though their stories were soon faded, they all will remain heroes who fought for the free world we enjoy. While some stories became famous with time, some remained in the dark but that doesn’t mean that one sacrifice for the nation was less than the other. Each one of them contributed collectively in the fight for Independent India. They all are heroes, heroes whose legacies should never fade with time. As the citizens of a free India, we should never take for granted the freedom we are privileged to have. Because this privilege is the result of years-long battle of bloodshed and indiscriminate torture of those whose stories one might not even have had ever heard off.
