As part of the 'Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, a series of events are being organized by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.

Through this MyGov activity, we aim to revisit history and acknowledge our local heroes whose struggles during the Freedom Movement have not received prominence in the conventional storyline. Let's raise awareness about our freedom struggle & the unsung heroes associated with it. It’s time that the contributions of fighters like Veer Gundandhur, Velu Nachiyar, Bhikaji Cama, etc. see the light of the day.

This is your chance to tell the story that must be told and honour the freedom fighters who have played an important role in making our nation free.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose He is undisputed and not enough recognised. We want truth in the country which says proudly "SATYAMEV JAYATE"

Mahavir Tyagi, who was active in the Kisan (peasant) movement, remained a lifelong member of the Indian National Congress. Active especially in the Western region of the United Provinces, he was imprisoned by the British eleven times. In the course of the non-co-operation movement in 1921 Mahavir Tyagi was based in Bijnor district. He was tried, inter alia, for sedition under Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code at Bulandshahr in the United Provinces, later known as Uttar Pradesh.( See Young India, 13 October 1921, and United Provinces Legislative Council Debates, 5 November 1921). In the course of the trial he was assaulted at the behest of the British Magistrate, W.E.J.Dobbs. (See Independent, 9 October 1921, Leader, 10 October 1921 and Young India, 13 October 1921) In a series of commentaries on the incident, Mahatma Gandhi condemned the assault on Tyagi. Usha Mehta who was a great leader and a great supporter of freedom movement of India .she played a vital role in non cooperation movement by handling secret radio . And she use to motivate people by her radio programs to participate at a large rate in the freedom struggle . When all the male freedom fighter were under the custody of Britishers or in prisons the women of their family came forward and take the responsibility of freedom of people of India. From Rani Laxmi Bai to Kasturba Gandhi , sucheta kriplani to Indira Gandhi , women were always with the man in the freedom struggle and worked hard to get freedom from the Britishers.

There ware many unsung heroes of freedom struggle.One of them was Shirishkumar Mehta. Shirishkumar Mehta (1926-1942)was an Indian freedom fighter a independence activist to be martyred at the age of 15. When Mahatma Gandhi launched Quit India Movement in 1942,Shirishkumar was leading a procession protesting against British government. The police had set up barricades in Mangal bazaar area.The police launched lathi charge as soon as the procession reached there.Shirishkumar had Tiran ga,the Indian national flag and the slogan Vande Mataram. The police opened fire when their lathi charge could not stop the procession.Shishirkumar Mehta was killed at the spot.

I am Prakriti Krishna Student of class 8 Indian revolutionary, Potti Sriramulu was born in 1901 to Guravayya and Mahalakshmamma in Padamatapalli, in a district that once a region within Nellore district. Later, their family shifted to Madras as famine conditions prevailed in this region. Sriramulu took part in the Indian Independence Movement and was imprisoned for participating in the 1930 Salt Satyagraha.Between 1941 and 1942, he participated in the individual satyagraha and the Quit India movement and was imprisoned on three occasions. He was a devout follower, avid supporter and devotee of Mahatma Gandhi. Helso joined the Gandhi Ashram established by Yerneni Subrahmanyam, in Komaravolu. He undertook three fasts, during 1946-1948, in support of Dalit (a heterogenous group of oppressed Hindu castes then referred to by Gandhi and his supporters by the contentious, though well intentioned, term Harijan) rights to enter holy places, such as the temples of Nellore.
