Sahid Memorial Papadahandi block of Nabarangpur district (Odisha) on the northern side of the Papadahandi Town near the Turi river. It is situated just beside the main road which is 12 kilometres away from the district headquarter and approximately 400 metres distance from the Papadahandi main chowk, falls on left-hand side while going towards Umerkote road. It is a very famous place and has its name throughout the state and county too for its history of freedom struggle and sacrifices of freedom fighters. We have to know and get aware of, one of the Indian national freedom struggle histories. I had attached here with they all are unsung Heros. There is a list of 19 Martyrs with names and villages. Names of martyrs who laid down their lives at this place for India’s independence on August 24, 1942 are as follows. You can view it from the image.

The Quit India movement in Odisha was at its peak towards the later part of August, 1942. The revolution took a very remarkable form in the undivided Koraput district.
On August 24, 1942, indiscriminate firing on freedom fighters by the unruly British police on the bank of Turi river near Papadahandi led to death of 19 people while it left several others injured, hundreds arrested and many washed away in the flood waters of the river those who jumped into it for safety. To commemorate the day, a Sahid Minar, a martyrs’ memorial, was set up on the banks of Turi as a symbol of the sacrifice of the local revolutionaries on August 24, 1984. Many Unsung Heros is there, Still negleted.
