As part of the 'Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, a series of events are being organized by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.

Through this MyGov activity, we aim to revisit history and acknowledge our local heroes whose struggles during the Freedom Movement have not received prominence in the conventional storyline. Let's raise awareness about our freedom struggle & the unsung heroes associated with it. It’s time that the contributions of fighters like Veer Gundandhur, Velu Nachiyar, Bhikaji Cama, etc. see the light of the day.

This is your chance to tell the story that must be told and honour the freedom fighters who have played an important role in making our nation free.

Share the stories with all the details and celebrate Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with us.

The hypocricy about this discussion is that when the states volunteer to showcase unsung freedom fighters during the republic day, the government rejects it stating that people don't know then. The aim is to show the unsung heroes to the coming generation. Freedom fighters like Bharathiyar, Kuyili, Velu Natchiar are the unsung heroes.

I am deeply inspired by the heroism of people like Subhash Chandra Bose, and Chandrashekhar Azad ji, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. But although the History books we have been taught. There is just their names and one or two lines about them. When I read about them, I got to know how much knowledge they acquired at a very early age. And that knowledge they used to fight the British and defeat them in the language they understood. There are so many people who gave up their lives at Jallianwala bagh, their lives were just useless if we look at them with sympathetic eyes, they were all Shaheed too. All the people because of whom we are here celebrating our 73th Republic Day, and 75 th independence year. They were and are all Unsung Heroes. I aspire to Join the Indian Army and serve my Nation. We as young generation have responsibilities upon our strong shoulders and we should always stand for our nation together. Thankyou

Kamala Devi Chattopadhyay Born on April 3, 1903, she was a social reformer and freedom fighter. Kamala Devi Chattopadhyay was best known for being the driving force behind the renaissance of Indian handicraft, hand loom, and theatre. She also fought for the upliftment of the socio-economic standard of Indian women by pioneering the co-operative movement. However, her contribution during the freedom struggle is not to be missed. Married at 20, she was in London when she heard of Mahatma Gandhi’s Non-Cooperation Movement in 1923. She promptly returned to India, to join the Seva Dal, a Gandhian organization set up to promote social uplifting. In 1926, she met Margaret E. Cousins, the founder of All India Women’s Conference (AIWC), and was inspired to run for the Madras Provincial Legislative Assembly. She was also the first Indian woman to be arrested, when she entered the Bombay Stock Exchange to sell packets of salt. Thanks By- Sudhanshu
