As part of the 'Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, a series of events are being organized by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.

Through this MyGov activity, we aim to revisit history and acknowledge our local heroes whose struggles during the Freedom Movement have not received prominence in the conventional storyline. Let's raise awareness about our freedom struggle & the unsung heroes associated with it. It’s time that the contributions of fighters like Veer Gundandhur, Velu Nachiyar, Bhikaji Cama, etc. see the light of the day.

This is your chance to tell the story that must be told and honour the freedom fighters who have played an important role in making our nation free.

Share the stories with all the details and celebrate Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with us.

I appreciate this and would express through my poem! Born at 17 July 1917 night, Is a man of might, Epitome of gallantry and sacrifice. The flying officer Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon, Was an officer of Indian Air Force. Not only he but his life is ideal, He was a superhero memorable On his duty, unmindful of his safety, courageously won the battle at Srinagar, Sacrificed himself for defence of others. His sublime heroism, supreme gallantry, Gives us the true meaning of victory. His duty in the face of death, Sheer determination and hard breath. Is a live example of one's profound love, For nation and social hub. His flying skills are new heights, In tradition of air force life. In his honour and bravery displayed, Paramveer chakra and postal stamps, Count for nought for heroics he made. Let's bring a change my dear, Come together as warriors. Life is precious and so as We, Let's fight woes- weals of life bravely! Written by Rekha Kumari
