As part of the 'Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, a series of events are being organized by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.

Through this MyGov activity, we aim to revisit history and acknowledge our local heroes whose struggles during the Freedom Movement have not received prominence in the conventional storyline. Let's raise awareness about our freedom struggle & the unsung heroes associated with it. It’s time that the contributions of fighters like Veer Gundandhur, Velu Nachiyar, Bhikaji Cama, etc. see the light of the day.

This is your chance to tell the story that must be told and honour the freedom fighters who have played an important role in making our nation free.

Share the stories with all the details and celebrate Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with us.

2)Aruna Asaf Ali At the age of 33, Ali gained prominence among Indian masses and infamy in the British Raj camp after she hoisted the Indian National Congress flag at the Gowalia Tank Maidan in Bombay during Quit India Movement in 1942. An arrest warrant was issued in her name but she went underground to evade arrest and started an underground movement. Her property was seized and sold. The British government announced then a reward of 5,000 rupees for her capture. Following India's Independence, she remained active in politics and social work but never received recognition.

1)Lakshmi Sahgal Captain Lakshmi was an officer in the Indian Army who also served in World War II. She also served time as a prisoner in Burma, now Myanmar. When Sahgal heard that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was building an army of women soldiers, she enlisted herself. She was directed by the high command to form a female regiment called 'Rani of Jhansi regiment, where she was appointed as a Captain.

Ullaskar Dutta (associated with Anushilan Samiti), Dukari Bala Devi (first female fighter to be arrested and convicted under the infamous Arms Act), Satish Chandra Samanta, Nanibala Devi, Bina Das, Satyendra Nath Basu, Kundraprabha Sengupta, Pulin Bihari Das, Manoranjan Sen, Basant Kumar Biswas, Parul Mukherjee, Moti Lal Rai, Kanai Lal Dutta, Tarak Nath Das etc . Nanibala devi she was married at the age of 11 and became widow at the age of 15 she was an undercover agent and helped those who fought for British.
