In spite of providing facility for free immunization to the pregnant mothers, only 32.4% of ST mothers (lowest among all social groups) received advice about where to go if they experienced pregnancy complications.
1) What could be the reasons attributing to it?
2) What interventions would be required to achieve 100% coverage of immunisation of pregnant mothers amongst tribals?
3) What can be the role of various Ministries, agencies (of Government and Non-government) to achieve 100% coverage of immunisation.

We solicit some sharing of experiences and suggestions on the subject.

More details on the subject can be found here.

Sir, In case of child health innovative preventive medicine suitable for small gene pool would partially serve the cause, however institutional intervention during mother's pregnancy will serve as a better preventive medicine for the child. However taking govt. Intiatives to tribals may be the hardest challenge of all.

Dear modiji I feel that the main deficit is lingual and geographical isolation. Therefore I feel that they need to be grouped and a moderator needs to communicate the government's intervention with the tribals. Also improvement in transportation facilities would greatly help communication with the tribals. Therefore intervention would be needed from the side of the ministry of transport and communication and ministry of minority affairs. jai hind!

Choose elder people, head of village or social group Head for spreading message. They will approach the family and inform the family of the pregnant. Tribals dont understand and accept the outsiders and their messages.

The problem could be a combination of two factors - lack of information about Govt's programs and about early pregnancy tests. Research suggests that tribal adolescents have poor knowledge of sexual health. To address the first issue, a health counselor could meet an about-to-be-married couple or a newly wed couple and provide them information about Govt programs. Maybe show them a movie on it. For the second issue, home pregnancy test kits in bulk can be distributed in tribal communities.
