The electronics waste (e-waste) comprises of discarded electrical and electronic equipment, and poses serious challenges globally for improper disposal practices especially in informal sector.

Hon’ble PM has emphasized the need for creating awareness for environmental issues under “Swach Digital Bharat’ during his address at NASSCOM event on 01.03.2015. On the direction of Hon’ble PM, MeitY has initiated the “Awareness Programme on Environmental Hazards of Electronic Waste through Digital India Initiative” over a period of five years to create awareness among the public about the hazards of e-waste recycling by the informal sector and educate them about alternate methods of disposing their e-waste.

Over 95 per cent of e-waste generated is managed by the informal sector. Integration of the informal sector and access to environmentally safe recycling technologies may reduce the health and environmental hazards. In addition to technology, capacity building, skill management, scientific recycling mechanism, business management training are also required for safe recycling of e-waste.

In this context, MeitY is inviting citizen inputs to provide solution for leakage of E-Waste in the informal sector, and suggest proper recycling technology for E-Waste that is economically available.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 4th April, 2018.

For any further information about E-Waste, please visit the GREENE website.

As we all know there is large amount of wastes coming from electronics and electrical industries,so we should think and analyse this problem very seriously to get a economical and efficient alternate for this problem. These waste should be collect in large chambers in factories and using various chemicals we convert into hard iron which is used for making railway lines, thick rubber wires, gates and metalled roads in every state of india in a cheaper cost.we can save large amount of money by this.

The chips that are used in devices have silicon & metal (gold/copper/aluminium).I had seen many videos on recycling it is easy to extract metal through some chemical reactions. recycling of silicon is difficult one, many companies worldwide are working on technologies to recycle the silicon as its manufacturing and recycling both processes are complex. so we have two choices either we invest money in research programme or to collaborate with foreigner industries in order to manage e-waste.

Corporations should be made that offer electronic takeback and should start recycling programs, offering low-cost or no-cost recycling. These centers have to accept and recycle electronics from the public, including mobile phones, laptop and desktop computers, and home and auto electronics. Non-profit organizations should be start that aims to reuse or recycle used computer equipment that might instead of becoming hazardous waste, accessible to those who lack financial means.

Firstly open a website where all sort of electronic item can be sold by the owner which are not usuable. The online site should be just like any other online shopping process. Once the seller puts up his item for sale the concern representative should get the details to pick up the goods. Once the process is done all such goods should be sent to the recycling factory. In that way a person can get rid of his unwanted items at a click of a mouse sitting at home without polluting the environment.
