The electronics waste (e-waste) comprises of discarded electrical and electronic equipment, and poses serious challenges globally for improper disposal practices especially in informal sector.

Hon’ble PM has emphasized the need for creating awareness for environmental issues under “Swach Digital Bharat’ during his address at NASSCOM event on 01.03.2015. On the direction of Hon’ble PM, MeitY has initiated the “Awareness Programme on Environmental Hazards of Electronic Waste through Digital India Initiative” over a period of five years to create awareness among the public about the hazards of e-waste recycling by the informal sector and educate them about alternate methods of disposing their e-waste.

Over 95 per cent of e-waste generated is managed by the informal sector. Integration of the informal sector and access to environmentally safe recycling technologies may reduce the health and environmental hazards. In addition to technology, capacity building, skill management, scientific recycling mechanism, business management training are also required for safe recycling of e-waste.

In this context, MeitY is inviting citizen inputs to provide solution for leakage of E-Waste in the informal sector, and suggest proper recycling technology for E-Waste that is economically available.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 4th April, 2018.

For any further information about E-Waste, please visit the GREENE website.

We can include BPL ladies in this , whatever old clothes like saree, kurtas etc found outside in the waste . collect them and govt will provide one small facility to clean them in the proper hygiene way and create cloth bags and in all the small vendors must use this in compulsion or any newspaper bag . This will reduce plastic use .

There should be PPP model to promote the proper recycling process for E-waste & other type of waste. As we "The Kabadiwala (www.TheKabadiwala.com)" are already working on the waste management sector to organize the un-organized sector. We spread awareness & Promote recycling which will directly beneficial for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. With the help of technology we can organized & Standardized the process of collection & Recycling as we have created the platform (www.thekabadiwala.com).

Polluters pay principle to be enforced Collection cost divided among transporters Recycling cost allocated to manufacturers If they can't do their part, pay some compensation If I purchase New Phone, collection cost should be included in the bill. But monetary incentive should be given i.e. when I return it to ANY(may not be in city which i purchased)shop, the collection cost should be refunded to me since I did my job.Similarly, when seller returns my used phone to ANY wholeseller he will get money

E-waste seems to definitely be a worldwide problem. We haul away lots of it on a daily basis at our job. What we have noticed is the increase of computer equipment as people always want to upgrade to the next best thing. We suggest that people donate their old computers and other electrical equipment to those who are in need in order to prevent more waste.
