The electronics waste (e-waste) comprises of discarded electrical and electronic equipment, and poses serious challenges globally for improper disposal practices especially in informal sector.

Hon’ble PM has emphasized the need for creating awareness for environmental issues under “Swach Digital Bharat’ during his address at NASSCOM event on 01.03.2015. On the direction of Hon’ble PM, MeitY has initiated the “Awareness Programme on Environmental Hazards of Electronic Waste through Digital India Initiative” over a period of five years to create awareness among the public about the hazards of e-waste recycling by the informal sector and educate them about alternate methods of disposing their e-waste.

Over 95 per cent of e-waste generated is managed by the informal sector. Integration of the informal sector and access to environmentally safe recycling technologies may reduce the health and environmental hazards. In addition to technology, capacity building, skill management, scientific recycling mechanism, business management training are also required for safe recycling of e-waste.

In this context, MeitY is inviting citizen inputs to provide solution for leakage of E-Waste in the informal sector, and suggest proper recycling technology for E-Waste that is economically available.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 4th April, 2018.

For any further information about E-Waste, please visit the GREENE website.

Government can come up with the bill like California did for right to repair. Each product should have repair and replace standards. While getting approval for any product they should provide the disposal as well as repair practice they are going to follow and they should provide the strategy to they are going to follow across country like distribution channel they have for selling. Waste disposal of most used electronics can be added to environmental science syllabus and teach them on school

flourish technical sector for electronics repair, reuse and resale meets another thriving, if not always pretty (to some), materials-recovery sector. In removing metals and other valuable materials, processes at sites like these do lead to the release of toxins into the environment and workers.

Each city corporation should create the dedicated space for dumping the e waste . The collection , reuse, renewal & extraction of value from the waste should be made separate companies and must be private firms. citizens can deposit the e waste at dedicated place in each ward or call the agency which will collect the waste from home . some threshold quantity can be defined. The value creation company can invest in extraction of good material. The local entrepreneurs can be selected in each city

As we import almost total technology from foreign s where we don't need to buy regular chores items we can use country made things with good quality. So for maintaining standard the industries should comply the norms and regulations which Our government will make own self with respect to country requirement , no need to comply always international standards to use domestic appliances in our country and the same things RESULTING IN VALUE SAVING from import.
