The electronics waste (e-waste) comprises of discarded electrical and electronic equipment, and poses serious challenges globally for improper disposal practices especially in informal sector.

Hon’ble PM has emphasized the need for creating awareness for environmental issues under “Swach Digital Bharat’ during his address at NASSCOM event on 01.03.2015. On the direction of Hon’ble PM, MeitY has initiated the “Awareness Programme on Environmental Hazards of Electronic Waste through Digital India Initiative” over a period of five years to create awareness among the public about the hazards of e-waste recycling by the informal sector and educate them about alternate methods of disposing their e-waste.

Over 95 per cent of e-waste generated is managed by the informal sector. Integration of the informal sector and access to environmentally safe recycling technologies may reduce the health and environmental hazards. In addition to technology, capacity building, skill management, scientific recycling mechanism, business management training are also required for safe recycling of e-waste.

In this context, MeitY is inviting citizen inputs to provide solution for leakage of E-Waste in the informal sector, and suggest proper recycling technology for E-Waste that is economically available.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 4th April, 2018.

The one thing about the e-waste is about its disposal. I think from my studies on e-waste is that it is a waste which does not get distroy from nature. the best way is that the firt rule of e waste is we all know is that REDUCE-> RE-USE AND-> RECYCLE,BEST WAY TO FACE E-WASTE. One more thing we can make a group in our society and to say people to give your e-waste here insted of throwing in garbage ,we can sort out the good things from it and remaining waste for recycle,it is like postmortain.

Use the network of postoffices to collect e waste . For motivating people to deposit their old phones/storage devices/usbs etc coupons can be issued based on weight or type and a scheme prepared for collecting coupons for redemption. Post offices already have small weighing balances to weigh the waste and the logistics to collect it at a central PO in a district from where e waste recyclers can collect and extract value . That can be shared between the recycler and the Government .

e-waste always have some parts/components to recover. If rag pickers are trained by some interested NGOs, in what to look for and pay to them very minimal for their efforts. Our e-repair business & poor rag pickers both could benefit. Like they in picking plastic bags/bottles. India produces e-waste maximum in world.

1. Make laws/ rules... Whichever company sells the phone should make quid pro quo contract of sale of electronic items with customer to take it back in case device has stopped working 2. Ngos and civil society to spread awareness about e-waste and not to throw them in domestic waste. 3. Making some collection centres in each city to collect all the e waste. 4. Using kabaadi Wala services to collect e-waste

shri P.M. modi ji, i want to suggest only that kidney disease is major problem in india many people are trouble due to kidney disease but there is no permanent treatment for this except kidney transplantation. People who has no doner for kidney tranplantation they die after sometime due lack of treatment. Many peoples dies in road accident, suicides and due to other reason per day. if these peoples kidneys organ have to be transplant in diseased person, we can save life of family.

Respected sir,I have suggestions we know that our most of the population live in villages.so we need to teach villager how we can use e waste . Government need to developed centre at a stone throw from the village.And emphasis to come in . Here they teachs them how this e waste used as a source of earning money.once they learned then they never goes outside the village for the livelihood.by this way we can stop the migration of villager as well as the use of e waste..Thank you

To solve the problem of electronics waste educational institutions like ITI diploma degree college etc... Should be collaborated with vendors & small traders who collect such waste & provide for practical training purpose of students towards their different different projects. That will be utilisation of waste to best & practical training to students along with theory both resulted in quality output to industry in future.

Convert e-waste into e-source, by taking stakeholder approach, from source to destination, Make collection centre with proper recycling facilities, Collecting responsibilities lies with the producer. Consumer must pay security amount which will be refunded when he returns the unsused product. Strict penalties will be mounted on non compliance with the rules. Bring in ragpickers to streamline the collection and thus they will be included in formal sector.
