The Municipal Corporation Tirupati is pleased to inform you that our city has been selected under Round 2 for Smart City Mission under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD). Round 2 of smart cities challenge is been provided to 54 cities to upgrade their proposals whose city is not covered in the list of 20. Tirupati is one of them! In this phase, our city has to compete with 54 other cities, enhance our proposal and become eligible for funding in 2016-17.

The city needs to refine its vision, strategic focus, mission and a proposal based upon Gap assessment and suggestions received from panel of expert and MoUD. We urge you to share your ideas and be an integral part of the journey towards making Tirupati a smart city! Read the Draft Smart City Proposal

   With the inclusion of Tirupati under Smart city programme, now there is a huge scope of the city to become much smarter by addressing the issues related to urban planning, housing, transportation, urban services, heritage & environment and become a role model for other cities across the country, making it more culturally vibrant.

   Telecommunications also acts as an enabler by providing connectivity. All the other responsibilities – water, power, transportation, etc. – require connectivity to communicate with the sensors and devices they use to collect data

Outdated water infrastructure and record deficits are both fueling demand for low-cost inspection and repair solutions – namely software and sensor technologies that can provide a snapshot of a utility’s entire infrastructure

   The concept of green roofing and subsidies from govt to encourage green roofing (Solar) can help with city energy needs as well

When it comes to optimizing transportation operations, the goal is to make sure the optimization takes place across all modes, in or near real time depending on circumstances. Cities that optimize transport modes individually limit the returns on their technology investments, since a change or incident in one mode will likely impact another. An example is a problem that shuts down a subway line, sending a big influx of riders to the closest bus.
