Under the initiative of Ease of Doing Business (EoDB), the Town and Country Planning Organization (TCPO), Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India circulated the Model Building Bye-laws in 2016 for adoption by State and U.T. Governments. The task in Chandigarh was assigned to the Department of Urban Planning. Accordingly, a committee was constituted for formulation of common rules with due consideration to byelaws/notifications/orders as issued/notified from time to time by the Chandigarh Administration.

Now, the Chandigarh Building Rules, 2017 (Urban) have been formulated by the Department of Urban Planning inspired by the Model Building Bye-laws , 2016 of Government of India. These are a compilation of relevant notifications/orders issued till date by the Chandigarh Administration, new chapters and guidelines mandated by MBBL-2016 and some elements of Haryana Building Code-2016. These rules contain norms and regulations in respect of Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Public-Semi Public land uses and other land uses ; building services ; High Rise Buildings ; Climate Resilient construction (environment clearance) ; green buildings; sustainable development measures etc.

These rules shall be applicable to the entire U.T. except Abadi Areas (Lal Dora) of U.T. villages.

The following points needs to be considered by any construction company in future opportunities to use and conserve renewable source of energies: •Water heating, Use of public lights, fans like in corridors, gates with electricity generated solar panels. Having powerwalls to save excess solar energy. •Rainwater harvest from rooftops even if there is limited supply of rain, would replenish ground water level and provide clean water in long term. (Can be mandated for all new construction)

IF YOU REALLY WANT TO CITY GREAT AND SAFE THAN JUST GO FOR OLD METHODS FOR BUID THE BULDING THAT IS ....USE MORE RAW MATERIALS AND CREATE STRONG THINGS ... DONT MAKE ANY ROOM FOR BRIBE OR ANY CORRUPTION IN RAW MATERIALS ..... KEEP IT SIMPLE...

Real estate and building construction sector have vase possibilities and opportunities, Hon. PM has made great effort that all the people in India having one home per family upto 2022, hence, the requirement of multi storied building is very important, hence, there should be proper facilities like, water,drainage, electricity, parking, solar, safety, entertainment, water recharge system, ventilation, fire safety, earthquake safety, clean environment, etc. should be considered, best wishes
