Children are particularly vulnerable to malnutrition and infectious diseases, many of which can be prevented and managed with appropriate timely interventions. Through this platform Department of Health Research/ Indian Council of Medical research invites suggestions, views, best practices, innovative ideas to be tested through research to improve health of children and prevent avoidable deaths.

Dear sir, Imagine yourself falling into a 60 feet deep hole that is just 1 foot wide. Your body is badly scratched in the fall and you are pressed so hard by the walls that it is hard to even breathe. Death is imminent, but slow. Can you imagine the pain? Unimaginable!!! Well that has been the fate of numerous children that fell into bore well holes left uncovered by a careless contractor or public works department. Can we see an end to such deaths?

GIS should used to map the causes of death in each area, the we should work backwards - what are the causes? How is it caused? How to prevent these causative factors? etc. For example, in one area deaths may be due to unhealthy water, in other non-immunization and in some other place it might be negligence of medical faculty. This GIS maps helps in developing a pattern, these patterns will help in identifying the root of the problem and plug it. One-size-fits-all approach will not work.

The surveys have found that majority of under 5 deaths due to diarrhea can be prevented by simple ORS, shockingly the vignette interviews shown that the doctors in rural areas - both Public and Private are not prescribing it. Clearly the doctors/quacks are not well qualified, this needs to be addressed by better regulation and inspection. Universal Immunization of Pentavalent vaccines needs be given top most priority - Polio Vaccination Model can be replicated to achieve this feat.

Preventing Deaths in Children's:- Mass vaccination campaigns and subsidize vaccinations (no corruption & will go to needy)- helps develop herd immunity. Heavy penalty & termination of employees in school where there are NO quality drinking water and canteen facility(spot inspections- preferably by reputable body-private body).

Simple achchhe se poshan hona chahiye aur sarkar ko uchit dawai ki vywstha karni chahiye. Shishu ki jahan tak delivery kaa sawal hai to pregnant ke pihar me hona chahiye kyonki wahan dekhbhal achchhi hoti hai.jo bhi parivar aarthik halat se majbur hai uski madad sarkar ko karni chahiye . shishu ke liye jo bhi dawaiyan lagti hai wah uchit daam me bajar me milni chahiye. Har shishu ki bimariyan common hoti hai magar dawaiyon ke abhaw me kuchh shisu maut ko prapt ho jaate hai.
