I just want to share my suggestion to respected Prime Minister that as the i see many people smoking publically, which should not be done smoking at public place should be banned people should be charged fine for smoking, the fine could produce the revenue for the country and the country would also become smoke free. As Shimla is smoke free city and people are charged fine of rupees 200 for smoking at public place this was the good step of the government in HP , that shold be applied in country

Rope in School teachers, Rickshaw wallahs and Anganwaadi Workers in the program - EDUCATE THEM ABOUT FLAG SIGNS OF MALNUTRITION. They will identify poorly nourished people in community. They will take them to nearest Pediatrician for assessment and advice. Each PHC should have 1 pediatrician running malnutrition assessment and advice clinics once every week. This way we identify magnitude of problem. Run HYGIENE AND NUTRITION campaign through same 5 people with doctors' training them.

Dr.Ramaa S, Regular monitoring & supervision of the residential set ups run by Social Welfare Departments and NGOs for children are must. The quality of these homes have to be improved. The residents of these set ups have to be trained to take personal care. Medical facilities should be available in them. The quality of food also should be good. There are highly valuable schemes in our country. But proper implementation, cooperation, commitment, monitoring, supervision, need to be strengthened.

Dr.Ramaa S, Road accidents, accidents due to carelessness on the part of the care givers also lead to mortality or disabilities. Traffic rules have to be made strict. Teenagers violate the rules in many instances leading to self injury or injury to others. They have to be guided to reduce risk taking behaviours. All possible measures have to be taken to minimize accidents of all kinds. Many youth are prone to suicide. The factors responsible for them have to be checked as far as possible.

Dr.Ramaa S, Health Education and Physical Education should be compulsory in all schools. ICDS should be implemented effectively. Parents and teachers have to be trained , especially in rural areas. Safe drinking water, clean toilets and surroundings are essential. Health should cover mental health also. Mental health programs, guidance and counseling services, personality development programs should be part of school system. PHCs should be directed have regular collaboration with the schools.

Dr. Ramaa S, It is not enough if we prevent mortality in children. There is a need to prevent disabilities among them. Ignorance, negligence, superstitions are all responsible for them. Mass media have major role to play. Hardly there are programmes on health issues of infants and children. Most of the health related programmes focus on adult problems. Medical examinations in schools are just routine and rituals. Regular medical check ups in schools and follow ups can prevent many problems.

It would be a great and noble scheme if the Govt. undertakes steps to make available some source of PROTEINS at MINIMUM price for children below poverty line and educate all families about the necessity of a proper wholesome diet for children because they are the most vulnerable to irregular nutrition. This would certainly curb deaths from malnutrition. As far as diseases are concerned, let's only hope those bacteria don't cross the LoC!
