Our country has made significant progress in bringing down the number of death among children below 5 years. However the number of child deaths is still very high. Children are particularly vulnerable to malnutrition and infectious diseases, many of which can be prevented and managed with appropriate timely interventions. Through this platform Department of Health Research/ Indian Council of Medical research invites suggestions, views, best practices, innovative ideas to be tested through research to improve health of children and prevent avoidable deaths.

Free distribution of food to children of any class should be stopped as it is a total waste for the children as well as for the exchequer. Parent should be educated to give their children boiled whole grains, sprouts, black grams,carrots, beet roots, spinach,any kind of beans, sweet potatoes.Immunization provided free should be strengthened even at school level as it used to be in good old days.Physical games should be a part of attendance in school &exposure to Computers and internet be reduced

We may develop low cost supplementary foods for children of various age groups who have malnutrition.The food may be supplied at a low price through social service agencies or through public distribution system.Parental education program for immunization, nutrition,hygienic practices shall be given in those areas where children are vulnerable to diseases.

Before the birth of child, pregnant woman must get the required medical attention. This must be ensured by the Gao Budas in village areas.In urban area, regarding medical attention of pregnant woman of the backward populace, it has to be ensured by Ward Member of Town Cmmitte or Municipal Corporation. Also, food supplements may be provided by the Govt. to pregnant woman. After the birth of child, mother's breast feeding and immunization of the child must be ensured by the above mentioned govt. functionaries.
