Recently we note that many PSU are insisting that candidates for vacancies should be from regular stream for Engineering ,MBA etc. Also even state funded Universities/Employers are not admitting students from the Distance stream to PG course/Jobs This is completely discriminatory and against UGC norms on ODL norms and against skills and Nation development and against Article 38(2)of constitution of India and should be discouraged as state is not able to provide education in regular mode to all

When UGC/DEC approves a Distance education course UG/PG it should be accepted as equivalent to similar courses in Regular Stream otherwise UGC/DEC should not give approval to run that course under distance mode. UGC need develop a model curriculam for all UG/PG Subjects if not available. All Universities have to comply atleast 80% with model curriculam, then only it should be allowed to be offered in the Regular or distance. Once approved it should be automatically recognised by all concerned

Present Governments objective is commendable. Distance/non formal education are major means to realise the potential of employed persons and to minimise inequalities in income, status, facilities and opportunities among individuals and groups in different areas and vocations.AMIE and IGNOU B.Tech programs helped working diploma holders to gain degree, promotion and help minimise inequalities. Decision to close Distance B.Tech,AMIE without alternatives is against constitn directive principles

We appreciate the present government commitment to facilitate every Indian to Realise their potential this is perfectly in tune with Article 38(2) of our constitution which provides state shall in particular strive to minimise the inequalities in income and try to eliminate inequalities in status, facilities and opportunities not only among individuals but also among groups of persons residing in different areas or engaged in different vocations.DECI BILL to reflect the same and need amendment

Respected Officials of MHRD can you post the Draft Distance Education Institution/ Authority Bill in this blog so that general public can view and comment. Most public dont visit http://mhrd.gov.in/distance-learning where the bill is currently put for public comments.

Having gone through the Distance Education Authority Bill in MHRD site we have to state that the bill is disappointing ,does not involve stake holders like employers, professional bodies like Institution of Engineers, IETE etc on the board there are lot of MHRD/AICTE and Government officials, lacks clarity on equivalence with regular qualifications.There can be only one qualification Diploma, Degree regardless of the mode.Lacks the emphasis that Distance education is the future main education

Dear members I intend to draw your attention to an unwise selection criteria bring used for entrance exams for MBA courses i.e. 50% in graduation.This criteria alone can't be a scale to mesure one's intellect as we all know that for even many top B schools like XLRI and also for UPSC Civil services there is no such criteria.AICTE must know that in our country where malpractice and other inefficiencies in education system are still existing, this is a irrelevant criteria depriving many.

If Citizens and Students want to register and pursue multiple courses regular and Distance Degree and PG or Diploma together, what is the harm in allowing them to do so, of course the students have to do the course at their own risk, they cannot complain of exams of different courses at same day etc. Just relaxing this rule will aid Skill Development further IGNOU is the leader in distance mode, Annamalai University courses can be fine tuned to match and meet IGNOU/DEC standards/credits

The Present Government is very good government. Honourable Prime Minister has good focus on Skill Development, we wish him and will support him in all his efforts. At last after so many years, there he is hope, the future is bright for India in his hands, hope he will promote online ,distance and Non Formal education like AMIE after making reqd changes , because Institution of Engineers have silently worked for the past 95 years in providing Skill Development of working Diploma Engineers
