Conventional education alone cannot meet the needs and aspiration of higher education. What proactive policies and strategies need to be devised and developed to encourage online education and overcome any implementation issues which are currently hindering its optimization? Also how can we strengthen ODL systems so as to ensure their quality and gain greater acceptability?

•Equality in course content & evaluation process will lead to marks statement and certificate holder making sense. Course content could be changed annually as per requirement. Universities & Educational Institution will concentrate on imparting knowledge & skill. • Even poorest (financially) student will have opportunity to pursue study of choice, that too from best of faculty, as the video available will be at least from IIT/ JNU and other institutes of repute.

DISTANCE EDUCATION & ONLINE COURSES HAVE A LOT TO CONTRIBUTE IN NEP! HOWEVER, FOR SUCCESSFUL ONLINE & OPEN EDUCATION, DIGITAL INDIA MUST ENSURE THAT WE HAVE AFFORDABLE, FAST & RELIABLE BROADBAND SERVICES. THIS CAN BE DONE IF 600-900 MHz SPECTRUM IS USED & SOLD CHEAPLY (50% DISCOUNT) TO TELECOM COMPANIES. ONGOING SPECTRUM AUCTION IS AIMED AT MAXIMIZATION OF INCOME & NOT TO PROMOTE DIGITAL HIGHWAY! SERVICES WILL BECOME TOO EXPENSIVE! DIGITAL HIGHWAY WILL BE LIKE OUR CONGESTED ROAD - SLOW SPEED.

It is the need of the hour. Life long learning is advocated world wide, we should not restrict ourselves to the same old campus class room education system. Til the age of fourteen we can have compulsory campus class room education and after that it could be the choice of learner whether to have formal education or education through informal methods. This would help in acquiring required degree or diploma and also encourage continuous learning to avoid both knowledge and skill obsolescence.

This is what I have tried in my 'Zero Cost Management Graduate' project, highlighted and appreciated by UNESCO also. You are welcome to have a look on it. Lets make distance learning program in chartered accountancy program. One goes through as apprentice and pass tough exams. CA education is valued a lot. Same way distance education course can be monitored specially the masters course. E.g MA hindi, translate documents for the government or act as proof reader for minimum number of hours to earn a master degree. This will help student to get industry experience as well as earn some money.

The present system of Ph.D admission in Universities needs to be corrected.A uniform research aptitude entrance examination has to be conducted at the national level for those candidates seeking admission in Central, State and Deemed Universities. The present system allows anyone to join and secure Ph.D though he or she doesn't have any prescribed standard of knowledge in any subject. Now,really knowledgeable scholars suffer without guidance as the students are admitted by faculty's own choice
