Khadi is not merely a piece of cloth. It is a philosophy. A way of life. A symbol of empowerment, self-dependence, pride of history, Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of the relevance of roots.

As Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi on his radio program “Mann ki Baat” on 3rd October, 2014 said that “we must promote the use of Khadi and we should buy at least one Khadi article. If you buy Khadi, you light the lamp of prosperity in the house of the poor”.This appealled to an increase in Khadi sales by 125% at the various outlets in India. This reflects a latent demand for Khadi, which needs to tapped which in turn will create rural employment. Potential consumers of Khadi could be schools, hospitals, Railways, PSUs, Army, Para-military forces, Fashion houses etc.

USP of the Khadi product is its eco-friendly, almost carbon neutral nature, which leaves near zero water footprints. It is socio-economically sustainable textile product. It’s an all-weather and allergy free fabric. Hence, Khadi use is a step towards ‘Zero Effect’ and ‘Zero Poverty’ India.

Currently, people employed in Khadi sector are earning Rs.1200 to Rs.1800 per month. MGIRI Wardha has developed a Solar Charkha which can increase the earnings to four times the existing one, cutting the drudgery along.Taking the initiative forward, MoMSME is going to start a pilot project in the KHANWA village, Nawada district of Bihar, where 100 Solar Charkhas would be distributed to the rural women for spinning of yarn. Under buyback arrangement with ‘Gram Nirmaan Mandal, Khadi Sansthan, GAYA, these yarns would be weaved into Khadi products. This scheme islikely to provide Rs.5000 to 8000 per month to the women artisans.This model of wage earnings to the rural women has to be scaled up so as to achieve the visionary goal of providing job opportunities to crores of rural women in coming years.

This, in turn is expected to lay a platform for another visionary goal of increasing the market share of Khadi in the textile sector from present 0.4% to 5% in next Five years in first phase.

In pursuance of the above twin visionary goals, you are requested to give your valuable inputs on

1. How to enhance the production and sale of Khadi?
2. How to create a niche for Khadi products particularly among youths and about 2.5 crore NRIs living abroad?
3. How to foster awareness about Khadi products?

All national level designers organization should get some re-bait on tax if they get kadai or designing of cloths from rural area. Even designers can guide/teach/specify those women as per their requirement.

Respected Hon'ble PM, WE HUMBLY REQUEST YOU MAKE CONSTANT FOLLOW UP WITH OUR CONCERNED AUTHORITY TO GIVE THE RESPONCE OF OUR ALREADY DISPATCHED GRIEVANCE ON 07-01-2015 and 31-01-2015. Sir,we can't understand why the concerned Govt.Authorities are unable to respond the GRIEVANCE sent by THE SUPRIME AUTHORITY i.e.HONOURABLE PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA. Sir, when THE PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA does not get the response from THE GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES what we expect for COMMAN CITIZEN to get response ?

Respected Hon'ble PM, Since the grievance lodged and registered vide registration number PMO/W/NA/14/0027082 dated 07-01-2015 and forwarded to THE GOVERNMENT OF GUJARAT on 07-01-2015.THE GOVERNMENT OF GUJARAT DID NOT RESPONDED UP TO 31-01-2015 THE SAME GRIEVANCE was again lodged and registered vide registration number PMO/W/NA/14/0046987 dated 31-01-2015 and forwarded to THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVEOPMENT on 31-01-2015. Sir, we regret to inform you that still to-day we have not received any RESPO

Sir, Please you use khadi personally in public and in your foreign tours and indicate this fact also in public addresses. There must be group of ladies with collection of Rs. 100 each which should be registered at gram panchayat and bank can provide loan to that group. The raw material must be available in the village or some nearby place. The government is required to provide the tools and training for quality and quantity (at minimum cost not free) as well as market. There must be no MEDIATOR.

Presently, there is a need to increase the demand of khadi not to increase the production or to engage people in production, because they will not earn enough if demand will be low. So steps should be taken to make people like and to wear khadi. Khadi clothes shuold be made available to COMMON SHOPS also apart from the limited KHADI BHANDARS. Prices should also be ckecked.

Chain of sales Outlets with brand name "Khadi " can be opened in all cities, Franchisee can be given to Private companies. Prices to be checked and monitored by some responsible body , and it should also see khadi weavers are paid honestly and reasonably else middleman will keep all profits. Thankyou.

Adding to it honourable PM can request Corporate MD's of banks like ICICI, TATA'S , Reliance etc to support in khadi sales by making their staff wear any one khadi item on last saturday of every month.Motive should be passed on to the employee, they will happily support in this drive.And gradually it will become trend through out country to wear khadi clothes atleast once in a month.
