Satna is one of the leading industrial cities in the heart of central India, Madhya Pradesh. Also referred as a Cement City, Satna contributes about 8 to 9 percent of India's total cement production. Satna district houses some major religious tourism spots including 'Chitrakoot' and 'Maihar'.

The city is the gateway to the Vindhya region and is located on NH-75 and the Howrah-Allahabad-Mumbai rail corridor.

In round-1 of Smart City Challenge, Satna scored 48.97 % and was ranked 55th among the 98 participant cities.
The Municipal Corporation Satna is upgrading its Smart City Proposal (SCP) for Round-2. The earlier proposal envisaged development of a Greenfield Township in city suburbs and other smart initiatives for Solid Waste Management and Urban Mobility in the city.

A continuous engagement with the citizens at every stage is of utmost importance to re-shape our Smart City Proposal. The Municipal Corporation of Satna hereby invites suggestions from citizens of Satna for upgrading our ‘Satna- Smart City Proposal’. Your valuable suggestions in context to the proposal uploaded Smart City Round-1 are welcomed.

Better roads are must. Satna lacks in good roads and in many places maintenance of roads are really needed. Satna roads connecting with other cities are also very poor that need to be built well.

More NGOs can be initiated in the city as they are helpful in regions where government policies are not reachable. Better and functional NGOs in field of women empowerment, child education, prevent of atrocities of children and women, employment, conservation etc.

As part of skill India program, more skill development training and camps can be organized as more labor and work force is needed in the city along with more development.

A cultural building, other than town hall, must be built in the city that will hold all the cultural activities that are regular nowadays in the city like theater, drama, speeches, debate, film making etc.

There must be a central library in the city that will help people to increase their wisdom and grooming their literary skills. Also students will inculcate the habit of reading in their free time.

For environment and healthy life style along with aesthetic significance of the city beautification and maintenance is necessary. Planting trees, maintaining parks, better sewage systems etc are necessary.

There must be better traffic control. There must be proper stops for Auto, Bus and other public transports. At crossings and crossroads traffic lights must be operational and for smooth traffic policemen must be present.

Satna lacks in good hospital services, so advanced hospital services must be present in Satna. Better doctors, treatment and other similar services.
