There is a need to put in place a School Quality Assessment and Accreditation System to cover all aspects of school functioning, including scholastic and co-scholastic domains, physical infrastructure, faculty management, school leadership, learning outcomes and satisfaction of pupils and their parents/ guardians. Better governance structures in schools striking a balance between mandating and persuading, training of district and block-level education officers as well as head teachers for better management practices, on using data to better monitor and support school performance, and to mobilise community resources and efforts to improve school performance. What are the current experiences and how can they be bettered to achieve tangible results.

Starting from the basics, present day situation of management of schools, whether of the Government Schools or those in the hands of private persons, much needs to be done. In Government Schools in JALANDHAR, which is the likely case at other places as well, what is visible is the attitude, "Everybody's responsibility is nobody's responsibility." In case of privately managed non-aided Schools, again, at least, in JALANDHAR, HOW MUCH 'RETURN' RETURNS TO COFFERS OF MANAGEMENT, IS IMMPORTANT!

CONTD... Coming to the affairs of the privately managed Schools, again, there needs to be the urge to realise that the motive to go to the education sector, is to put in unabated efforts to make the society educatioally "rich". PRESENT DAY SCENARIO, AT LEAST IN JALANDHAR, PRSENTS A NOT SO HOPE-RAISING PICTURE. LATELY, SOME-TIMES, STARTING SCHOOLS IS TAKEN UP JUST AS ANOTHER WAY OF INVESTMENT. TAKING EDUCATION AS ANOTHER FI.ELD FOR INVESTMENT NEEDS TO BE EFFECTIVELY CHECKED. FOR SURE.

Those entrusted with the management of Gonernment Schools must act in sense of responsibility, and, must show strength of involvement to ensure that the affairs of the schools are run in such a way that the MAIN MOTIVE IS NOT LOST SIGHT OF. ALL EFFORTS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TOWARDS LENDING CREDIBILITY TO THE EDUCATION IMPARTED. PRESENT SITUATION EXHIBITS NO SUCH SENSE OF URGENCY. CORRECTIVE MEASURES ARE NEED OF THE HOUR. OTHERWISE GOVERNMENT RESOURCES STAND SQUANDERED.
