India Science (www.indiascience.in) is an Internet-based science Over-The-Top (OTT) TV channel. It is an initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt of India , implemented and managed by Vigyan Prasar (VP), an autonomous organisation of Department of Science and Technology. This 24x7 video platform is dedicated to science and technology knowledge dissemination, with a strong commitment to spreading scientific awareness especially with Indian perspectives, ethos and cultural milieu. The initiative is supported by National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), DST.

Science and Technology are the main driving forces of the nation and fundamental to the progress and growth. But there is a distinct difference between “science” and “scientific”.

What do you think, is the difference and where do you think they relate with each other? How do the two words contribute to building and reinforcing scientific temper among the youth? Send us your views!

The Scheme envisaged by Got. PM- WANI is brilliant idea to bridge the Digital divide between Rural & Urban areas. Easy access to Internet through local kiosk / kirana neighborhood stores will surely help in penetration of poor, rural people. In addition to small internet packages offered by them, they can also consider lending i-pad, smart phone, PC on hire (time sharing) and educate them to use for a healthcare, agriculture etc The unique scheme will create employment to lakhs in villages.

(a) Scientific temper is a human attribute to be able to make progress in our evolution from animal to a superior supreme being. (b) Science is cumulation of cosmic knowledge which leads to further unearthing and deploying it for human evolution. (c) “Science and scientific” are mutually exclusive, however they groom each other and are therefore immensely interdependent. (d) Scientific temper can be groomed without elaborate and expensive education system.
