I am a Asst. Prof. in an Engineering college and use to take various practicals and examinations of student. In my opinion we can add one more exam on that day. Every college student should plant one tree on this day and he should monitor its growth. Teacher will examine the growth of that plant and award him marks. A class and exam outside the class. Their are millions of students enrolled every year in colleges and with them they will enroll their plant (friend). That means million plant/year

The Father of the Nation is mainly remembered only on 2nd October every year , however no activities are conducted at the Public office as the same is public HOLIDAY However 2nd October should be declared as "SWACH DIVAS" where the Public /Govt. Officers would not interact with public or do their routine work but will REMOVE UNWANTED THINGS AND SCRAP, EACH AND EVERY OFFICER WOULD CLEAN HIS OWN OFFICE OR DEPARTMENT IN TERMS OF CLEANLINESS, GOOD GOVERNANCE AND SMOOTH FUNCTIONING

This is only a suggestion that , we dont need to push govt to do anything special on that day . Although at individividual level we should forget our powerty level, religion, Job level & try to help the needful. Anything we can do - giving our old clothes , utensils , food , old furniture , medical treatment to the needful person. This could be satisfactory at individuals .
