Innovative ideas on circular economy in E-waste

Today, electronic waste poses a significant challenge for society. With the introduction of innovative features and up-gradation, people are changing their devices by discarding the old ones, thereby contributing to the generation of electronic waste significantly.

Replacing the linear systems with circular in electrical and electronic equipment intends to maximize value at each life-cycle stage by reusing, repairing, recovering remanufacturing, regenerating products and material.

Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) observes Swachhata Pakhwada 2022 from 1st February 2022 to 15th February 2022 promoting ‘E-waste se Raksha- Swachhata hi Suraksha’. Citizens are invited to share their innovative ideas on how circular economy practices can help in sustainable and efficient E-waste Management.

The best entries from the citizens will be identified by the Ministry and will be featured on the MyGov page.

The last date to receive suggestions is 15th February 2022.

Generation of e-Waste is linked with number of users. In other words we can say that with increase in population, e-Waste would increase. As e-Waste rule is already applicable, government shall have some data of total e-Waste generation. What is our rate of generation of e-Waste per person in comparison to other countries?

E waste are mainly generated from house holds like batteries, remote, chargers, old mobile phones are all thrown in non recyclable waste along with plastics. Every municipal should strictly collect E waste separately. It should be given to authentic dealer. since, recycling other waste like plastic, clothes is less dangerous to humans. Reusing, recycling E waste should be well monitered as it is much dangerous to lives. low quality e waste if it is 3R technique followed may getting chance of explode. E waste should be properly graded as high quality waste, low quality waste by dealers. Should be properly reused, recycled not affecting the lives as well as environment. people should really think why we should often change our mobile phones. Buying new model mobile phone buying new model compuers often increases electronic waste. As it tends manufacturers to produce more electronic items. once production increasea vice versa waste also increases. Earth for man need not for man greed.

Companies selling products with poly packaging should have collection protocol in place to do business. For example milk selling Companies should ask the dealers to collect the used packets and recycle them.

Most companies store used electronic items in the storeroom. By buying such things at a low prize... can be recycled. Can be resold as raw materials to electronics manufacturing companies. Thereby benefiting the environment.

Every computer installation used to require air-conditioned space in earlier days. Buying computer means one had to buy AC and though using the computer itself might not be consuming much power but running the AC was absolutely not economical for ordinary persons. Now, new generation computers can withstand much variation in temperature and do not require special air-conditioned enclosures. New age computers are more sustainable products.
