Innovative ideas on circular economy in E-waste

Today, electronic waste poses a significant challenge for society. With the introduction of innovative features and up-gradation, people are changing their devices by discarding the old ones, thereby contributing to the generation of electronic waste significantly.

Replacing the linear systems with circular in electrical and electronic equipment intends to maximize value at each life-cycle stage by reusing, repairing, recovering remanufacturing, regenerating products and material.

Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) observes Swachhata Pakhwada 2022 from 1st February 2022 to 15th February 2022 promoting ‘E-waste se Raksha- Swachhata hi Suraksha’. Citizens are invited to share their innovative ideas on how circular economy practices can help in sustainable and efficient E-waste Management.

The best entries from the citizens will be identified by the Ministry and will be featured on the MyGov page.

The last date to receive suggestions is 15th February 2022.

The best solution to this has been recycling, which takes the parts within electronics, even the broken ones, that still have value and makes them available for new products. But the recycling rates for e-waste remain stubbornly low, which is why proponents of recycling are doing what they can to educate people about the long-term environmental and economic benefits of the approach.

E-waste should be separated into three categories; solid, breakable and soluble. soluble can experiment with mosquitoes and other insects. harmful nature. breakable can be in imitation and toy pottery manufacturing and breakable can experiment in PVC and mettled road making. then we can get rid of the piles of E- wastage dumping.

The huge amount of waste generation and its informal recycling and disposal makes E-waste and its management a major source of these pollutants. Wastage of resources must be minimized. Valuable metals must be recovered. Leakage of harmful substances must be prevented. Workers and residents must be provided with safety gear and protective equipment and must be protected from excessive exposure to toxins and hazardous substances arising from E-waste.

The most effective and feasible method of achieving all these goals is to implement best available practices and technology for recycling E-waste. Further research is required to be done on better and safer methods to manage E-waste.

One man’s junk is another man’s treasure as the old saying goes. This can be applied to helping you get rid of your old electronics. You can tap into online sites like Amazon, craigslist, eBay or even resort to having a garage sale as this will help you get rid of your outdated electronics as well as earning some money. Most electronic shops are always ready to buy your old electronics.

We need to find an e-waste recycler who is officially certified by the Government. It should be a non-profit organization of recycling companies which are dedicated to recycling e-waste in a safe and responsible way. All members have to make a pledge and display their Pledges of Responsible Recycling. So working alongside a certified recycler means that you don’t have to worry about polluting another nation or risk losing your personal details to criminals.

Electronics are an important part of our lives today but the flipside is the e-waste that comes along with it. So make sure to format your electronic devices before disposing of them in a proper manner as the consequences of not doing so can be painful.

A lot of electronic companies tend to have an exchange policy whereby they take back your old gadgets when you buy a later version, sometimes offering you a discount on your new purchase. A few recycling companies have set up electronic drop off initiatives along with drop off points for products such as cell phones and tablets after which they are recycled. You can ask your local electronics shops regarding any information about drop off locations.

Enquire amongst your government, universities, and schools for any recycling programs they run as a lot of organizations have started assigning a certain day and place for environmentally conscious citizens to come and drop off their e-waste.

Old gadgets that you no longer need can be donated as they may be useful to others. Your old computer may be useful to either an NGO or students.
