Tribal development forms the foundation for the economic growth of a nation which carries with it a substantial portion of the tribal population. Supporting the native tradition is the key to building a strong community and a healthy economy. With 8% of the population of India belonging to the Scheduled Tribe it becomes critical for the government to safeguard their interest and promote their livelihood. TRIFED the Government of India established organization, supported by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has been a security net for the tribes across the nation for over 30 years now. It has taken several initiatives for socio-economic welfare and empowerment of tribal communities through capability building, marketing, distribution, packaging, and other supporting activities.

Inhabiting the remotest parts of the country and being reserved, poses several problems for the community as well as the government in assisting their growth

• Dwelling in the Natural Habitat they carry a wealth of knowledge in plants, forest produces as well as ancient herbs, which is tantamount to that of an expert. With efficient support, this can be developed further to generate significant income for the community
• There has been an increase in the rate of unemployment among schedule tribes in the past few years owing to the lack of connection to the mainstream market
• Despite having been given reservations by the central government, residing in rural areas have posed difficulty for them in making the most of the benefits offered
• Members of the tribal community have made noteworthy contributions to the nation right from our struggle for freedom to the field of Healthcare, Education, and Technology. This shows that the community holds the potential to thrive under proper guidance

Taking the aforesaid points into consideration, TRIFED has committed itself to ensuring the all-around welfare of the Indian tribes. This is not limited to just inculcating entrepreneurial skills among them or having built an exclusive brand “Tribes India” for them but extends to establishing Van DhanKendras, providing awareness about vaccination for Covid, providing vocational training, and organizing Trade Fairs on a massive scale. The recent decision to observe the 15th November-the birth anniversary of tribal icon BirsaMunda as “Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas” is praiseworthy and TRIFED would unveil The National Tribal Festival “Aadi Mahotsav” on the following day to commemorate it. This festival is not only a platform for the tribal artisans to showcase their valuable skills but the revenue that it generates for the community is of utmost significance.

TRIFED under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi has been constantly pushing and coming up with reformed measures to realize the mission of Atmanirbhar Bharat by improving the quality of tribal produce, providing technological up-gradation, assisting in research & development and is now keen to see the suggestions of field experts, students, business leaders, social activists, subject-matter experts and all the contributors to this field in order to expedite its mission of economic development of Tribals.

As we mark the 75th year of India’s Independence we want you to have a greater stake in revolutionizing the tribal economy.

Last but not the least work we wish to share is creating very micro eco-friendly industries (we have our researched micro list) in the preferred locations of the tribal communities regions which are very eco-friendly and self sustainable so that with the increase in technological world the tribal communities will remain self sustainable and helps in the preservation and helping in fighting the climate crisis. We can give thousands of solutions to boost the economy of tribal communities in the most profound manner it just that with each passing day and now due to heat waves we losing loads of hope for the future meta-medicines up in the wild and now required technology to save them. We don't have time now please with every passing day lots of fungi and medicinal herbs are getting extinct or are in the endangered list act now before we lose the hope of the global pandemic cancer. It's Do or Die situation for us because we know how these things are on the merge of extinction.

Another point we wish to add is during the time of no crop introducing cultural heritage, educational tourism, share of ideas and knowledge through direct conversation between the tribal communities with the knowledge sharing communities surely help them to adapt the technology in the most profound way and give them a backup source of income. Students of different agricultural fields, medicinal researchers, traditional healers, educators can help in expanding the work and knowledge through a very self sustainable tourism. We have to make the tribal communities a problem solving mind which with technology can preserve the natural resources for the generations to come. There are many ways we can uplift and develop a strong economy with guaranteed results in a limited span of time. Food and cultural tourism is another factor we wish to add on and the list is endless. But every single day counts since we losing fungi networks at a very very high speed act now or never, please.

According to our experience for decade now, tribal communities can easily be developed if good education, hygiene and technology is introduced in a right and skillful way. The main source of income for the tribal commnunities is traditional farming and now little bit of knowledge of the herbs they possess because the generations specially between 1970 to 1988 was unable to carry the traditional knowledge of medicine in the nearby forest. In our model of self sustainability if we have to develop a robust tribal economy, we surely have introduced high potent medicinal farming of mushrooms like Chaga, Mesima, Ganoderma, Cordyceps, Lion Mane, Usnea, lichens with very high potent medicinal herbs like Astavargha plants to boost the economy of our nation and according to us if properly done in the most ethical way then within 4 years the tribal communities income surely be increased by 15X times there is no doubt about it. Education & awareness is the key yo develop economy.

See as much we have Researched on the ground levels tribal communities main source of income is farming and thats to through traditional farming method. Awareness is less and with the rise in technology the old generation who are much involved in these practices suffers the tech world. Every tribal community is given a forest where they can avail there day to day needs of fuel or food. Introducing a pattern of agroforestry and introducing medicinal farming with medicinal fungi as a top priority. This will increase the income of the farmers by 10X times and this is something we can surely promise that within 3 years the life of the farmers with proper awareness can be changed for good. We can help.
