The city of Davanagere is located at a distance of about 260 km from the state capital of Bangalore. It is nestled at the foothills of the Western Ghats. Previously known for its cotton mills, it is a fast developing city of Karnataka. The arid town was once a thriving textile center. This place is also called as 'Manchester of Karnataka' or textile capital of South India.

Davanagere City Municpal Council came into existence on 7th Aug, 1951. Later it is upgraded as Davanagere City Corporation on 6th Jan, 2007. Presently it has jurisdiction over an area of 68.63 Sq. Kms with over 1.5 lakh properties. Davanagere City Corporation is situated at the P B Road, opposite to City Railway Station, Davanagere.

For its governance, the Davanagere City Corporation is divided into 41 wards, each represented by a Corporator. The Corporators elect the Mayor, who is the administrator of the City and serves office for a term of one year. The administration of the Corporation is vested in the Commissioner, who is designated by the State Government.

No chopping of trees , wider roads, better public transport, better traffic control, corruption free officers, management of rain water. Last point to make Davanagere smart city, first make people smart.

first give basic infrastructure like water, electricity, road etc. do not give scope for big malls instead of retailers

MY DAVANAGERE CAN BE SMART WITH 1.GOOD UNDERGROUND SANITATION 2.ELIMINATION OF SWINES 3.STRICT WASTE MANAGEMENT (COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL) BY CITIZENS AT HOME LEVEL 4.WIDE ROAD WITH SEPARATE WAYS BUT NO TO CHOPPING TREES. 5.NEW FLYOVERS 6.MOTIVATE-SOLAR POWER, USE OF BICYCLE 7.MORE PARKS WITH TREES 8.GOOD QUALITY PETROL/DIESEL FOR VEHICLES 9.AIRPORT 10.CORRUPTION FREE TRANSPARENT OFFICES 11.ENCOURAGE PLANTATION 12.STREET LIGHTS IN ALL CORNERS WITH CAMERAS 13.POLICE PATROLLING

#smart city, # Davangere, 1. Discipline and awareness in people by strict and stringer laws. 2. Traffic management system With cctv controlled with seprate cell. 3. Implementing strict laws to protect parks and lakes, ponds with greenery everywhere. 4. Making UGC (underground cable)I'm tunnel system like in abroad where everything like powerlines, water, broadband cables, telephone cable, etc should be made mandatory for better picture of city. 5.
