The city of Davanagere is located at a distance of about 260 km from the state capital of Bangalore. It is nestled at the foothills of the Western Ghats. Previously known for its cotton mills, it is a fast developing city of Karnataka. The arid town was once a thriving textile center. This place is also called as 'Manchester of Karnataka' or textile capital of South India.

Davanagere City Municpal Council came into existence on 7th Aug, 1951. Later it is upgraded as Davanagere City Corporation on 6th Jan, 2007. Presently it has jurisdiction over an area of 68.63 Sq. Kms with over 1.5 lakh properties. Davanagere City Corporation is situated at the P B Road, opposite to City Railway Station, Davanagere.

For its governance, the Davanagere City Corporation is divided into 41 wards, each represented by a Corporator. The Corporators elect the Mayor, who is the administrator of the City and serves office for a term of one year. The administration of the Corporation is vested in the Commissioner, who is designated by the State Government.

*Need wider roads with parking slots and footpaths. *Put some more govt /Private mini buses all around Davangere for local transportation *Renovate/upgrade Railway station, Private & Ksrtc Bus stand. *Need more Sports facilities

Broad roads, good green area, 24/7 water & power supply, digital connectivity, proper disposal of garbage waste is essential. Davanagere is situated in center part of karanataka and it is famous for business and it is educational hub. Good technical institution and supporting authority for start ups business and industries in the davanagere so i wish the Davanagere city has to be molded as smart city

1)Overall infrastructure wrt broad roads, street lights, drainage,parks,road side plantation & parking is a must 2)Dust should be eliminated 3)Proper waste management 4)Waste water recycle. 5)Rain water management should be made compulsory 6)Solar energy should be utilized to its best 7)Efficient & effective transportation 8)One stop for the the utility bill payment 9)Industries must be encouraged 10)educating,training,motivating and creating awareness among citizens of city is must

Facilitate more for small scale industries, upgrade the area surrounding mandakki batti.Huge problem is market area mandipet facilitate their good traffic facility, parking facility, public toilets so that market area will be clean and good.
