Tiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation has been ranked first among 12 cities selected for implementing Smart City project in Tamil Nadu and is gaining momentum to get shortlisted in the final round of Smart City Challenge where 20 cities would be selected in the first year.

The vibrant citizens of Tiruchirappalli are requested to post their views pertaining to municipal and city’s basic infrastructure such as water supply, electricity, sanitation, waste management, transport, parking, energy,housing, IT solutions,safety and security. Residents are encouraged to give their ideas and suggestions at city level as well as local area level solutionsin Tiruchirappalli.

Let us join hands together in making Tiruchirappalli a global Smart City!

Smart City Plans and Implementation should be made in such a way that it should be meeting the needs of the people for the next 100 years. Smart City Plan should have a balance both in Urbanization and other fulfillment of the Basic Infrastructure in our city. Certain things which Trichy needs from this Smart City Project are 1. Improvement in roads and Infrastructures – Widened roads with Parking Facilites within the City Limits.

Nice to hear that Tiruchirappalli has been chosen to become a a smart city, but a lot has to be done. Firstly the local public transport has to improvement and streamlined w.r.t to route numbering, discipline among the crew. Secondly a well organised integrated bus stand to take care of future increase in public fleet also. Traffic police to be more stringent in adherence of rules. Removal of all encroachments and widening of roads with proper drainage facility on either side.

Happy to understand that Tiruchirappalli will become smart city. Lot of improvement is to be done in Infrastructure like making good roads good integrated main bus stand and sanitation facilities. The Solar Auto / Solar Taxi / Solar Bus facility to be introduced, since Trichy is one of the Hot and Hottest place of Tamil Nadu. Trees and flower plants to be planted through out the city, since no shortage of ground water and only the initiatives is required.

5. No parking/stopping in all of the roads, if we clear all the parked vehicles from the road, it would add the extra lane to the existing roads.... 6. Solar power generation and exploring the possibility of series of mini hydro power project throught out the stretch of uyyakondan canal or of similar canals...

3. Developing a good road infrastructure so that city is spread across not concentrated only in the core areas,like any one should reach city centre in 30 minutes from any where within a radius of 30km distance

2. Decongesting the market area, the vast land banks of gandhi market, and the old prison lands could be used to relayout the entire sorrounding areas so that a neat 4 laned road could connect the head post office to main gaurd gate, gandhi market to palpannai chennai byepass, west bouleward road(market to odathurai road), market to puthur 4 roads

we have to think atleast twenty years ahead from now and has to meet the demands for another thirty years from there. 1. A worldclass bus terminus of a standard equivalent to any major international airport. The existing location could be converted into multi-level bus terminus, with a subway or metro type link with the railway junction along with extension of the same link train upto airport would actually offer the travellers of all modes a seemless connectivity and a world class experience.

#Science #education The Anna planetarium should be renovated. It should be actively interacting with the public through official fb pages. With movies like "interstellar", "gravity" and "the martian" releasing in theaters people are interested in space. The planetarium should also focus the amateur astronomers and college students who want to pursue astronomy as a career. The planetarium could be turned into an observatory(in a different place if conditions dont suit) a radio observatory?
