Addressing his fellow Indians from the Red Fort on 15th August 2014 the Prime Minister called for replacing the Planning Commission with another Institution that is in sync with the modern times and most importantly in sync with the aspirations of 21st century India. The Prime Minister also emphasized on the important role the states have to play in taking the nation forward.

This forum invites your innovative ideas on what shape will this proposed institution take in terms of structure, composition and area of functioning. Another area of focus that requires your inputs is how this proposed institution can enhance Centre-State coordination and thus become a true celebration of India’s Federal Structure.

My suggestion for the new name is: Name: "BHARTIYA JAN KALYAAN AYOG" (INDIAN REPUBLIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL) TAGLINE: Ubhartey Bhaarat ki Nayee Pehchaan. The name suggests that the Indian Government/Council (Ayog) is focused for the Welfare & Development (Kalyaan) of the People/Janta (Republics) of Independent India.

There should be clear distinction between Schemes of Central Govt & State Govt,Then all planning/Implementation should be done as per Scheme stake holder. Budget allocation should be on overall basis to both State & Central Govt on a fixed formula.

Planning should be done at State level as well as at the central level. At the central level planning should be done in each and every ministry. There should be a body to which all the plan of state and central ministries should reach. This new body comprising of people from public and private sector having experience of planning should prioritize as per inputs. This body should be able to improve and integrate center state relation. Voice of state, district, panchayat should be heard.
