Hi one and all. I am Harsh and I have recently moved to Germany to further my education.I would vote for an action which will not only take care of street cleaning but environmental cleaning as well. I am talking about recycling of plastic wastes. Here, I have observed that on a bottle of water (13 cents) you have to pay 25 cents as a Pfund(refund) which you get only after submission of the bottle after consumption. Only where money is involved shall people forcefully execute the tasks I feel.

ALL PUBLIC PLACE SHOULD BE UNDER CCTV COVERAGE,1 OR 2 GUARDS SHOULD TAKE CTION ON THAT PERSON WHO CAPTURED IN CAMERA.HE SHOULD PAY NOMINAL FINE.THIS FUND CAN USE FOR CCTV,BROOM,DUSTBIN,GUARDS PAYMENT ETC.GOVERNMENT OFFICESS SHOULD BE CLEAN.

There should be a special force "the swachh petrol" in urban areas they will insure the cleanliness in the public places and they will fine the one who is making it unclean

whenever I see a small shop beside the road I could see mostly packets of tobacco or cigarette on the road. there should be dustbins in every shop and on road after every 50 meters. any shop not having a dustbin should be penalized. to control plastic disposal the shopkeepers should be costing for it. or else there should be complete ban on plastic bags and the shopkeeper should be instructed to sell paper or organic bags.

EVERY CITY HAS RAG PICKERS COMMUNITY,SELLING PLASTICS AND PAPERS TO THE TRADERS, WHY NOT MUNICIPALITIES, MOTIVATE THEM TO SELL THE GARBAGE TO THE LOCAL MUNICIPAL BODIES.THE COLLECTED GARBAGE CAN BE RESOLD/ REUSED FOR MAKING ROADS, MANURE, AND BRICKS.

most garbage is collected near a railway station or a bus stand. to reduce garbage near railway platform or a junction every bogie should be having a closed window with a common fan. no body should be allowed to stand near door while the train is on the move. if found standing the attendant can fine person guilty. every seat should be having a small dustbin. for the bus stand no food item should be allowed on the bus for short journey. if found the conductor can fine them.

With every ad for an item which has plastic (say) material, there is to be a message communicating that the plastic is to be separately collected and given to suitable distribution center. The mechanism of the message can be like the warning against smoking displayed in smoking scenes on TV, 20 % of an agency budget is set aside for ads specifically targeting segregation and disposal, about 30 % of the package has message on proper disposal of the material (like warning on Cigarette packs),..etc

Have the creator , distributors of the non-degradable waste (say plastic) be a party to the collection, recycling of the waste. Example- Kellogs, Brittania, Supermarkets, Milk Diaries .. etc collect 2 times (say) the weight of the plastic material or pay 2 times the cost for the collection & re-processing of the waste. This is expected to having more dustbins available for people to put the waste, encourage proper collection and re-cycling or funds to Gov. for larger Swach activities.

The size / proportion of the waste generation and distribution is so huge that it is simply not possible for the government alone to drive / handle the disposal or recycling. It is necessary that the generator / distributor also is a party to the means of the collection / disposal of the garbage. In this context some suggestions on the means of active involvement of a larger set of people / groups are presented in the next set of comments.

2 dustbin per home one for kitchen waste to make biogas- fertilizer, plastic for recycling- to give landfills some rest, farmers getting free fertilizers, boost to economy, make urinals at every 100 steps, collect urea and make fertilizer for healthy green revolution- why buy expensive chemical fertilizer when so much is available in free. only political will, corruption free IAS officer can make it possible
