Department of Telecommunications (DoT) through their letter dated 27th February 2019 has informed that Indian Railways has proposed to install an Ultra-high-speed LTE based communication corridor along their network for Train-Ground and Train-Train communication. In this connection Indian Railways has requested DoT to reserve 15 MHz of spectrum in 700 MHz band for the purpose and to begin with 10 MHz to be allocated free of cost as the proposal is devoid of any commercial gain, but only for enhancing security and passenger amenities. Through the said letter, DoT has also requested TRAI to provide recommendations on administrative allotment of spectrum to Indian Railways and the quantum, price, appropriate frequency band (including 450-470 MHz band) and any other related issue.

A Consultation Paper on “Allotment of Spectrum to Indian Railways for Public Safety and Security Services” has been released to discuss the issues involved. Written comments on the issues raised in the Consultation Paper are invited from the stakeholders by 22nd July 2019 and counter-comments by 5th August 2019.

For any clarification / information Shri S.T. Abbas, Advisor (Networks, Spectrum & Licensing), TRAI may be contacted at Telephone Number +91-11-23210481.

Yes its good initiation for allocation of dedicated spectrum for IR services, however other technology need to addressed such as cognitive radio spectrum with machine learning and industrial IOT can overcome scarcity of spectrum as well as revenue generation through spectrum auction. May be train to Infrastructure connection , satellite solution to locate train and to measure speed of train, terrestrial solution by existing cellular network,. Inside railways stations wifi, wimax can be used.

It's a good move made by the railways. People can use the facility by way of nominal charges for the amount of data usage. By login they can use the mobile no with PWD facilities. All login should be made with proper security usage. Just like the usage in railway station people can login with their mobile number with password. Payment should be made online facility misusage should be protected. Most of the station should be covered with the facility through network with service providers.

Is a good idea. 4g, 5 g to start with. Can add rs 1 per ticket for unlimited internet during trip. Will allow travellers to do work, or be entertained etc. Right now very few isp work sound the rail routes. And not in all states

good idea. but separate two branches viz:- railway safety and passenger convenience. railway safety may be requested for free service but passenger services should be separately charged during booking of the ticket like insurance. passengers are just going to view movies--no harm in charging. railway safety including, train to train communications, train to ground, logistics, clear track distances from obstacles are essential. passenger services should not hinder safety measures.

Its a really good initiative by the Ministry of Telecom as this will given Indian Railways the independence in terms of ensuring the Public Safety and Security Services and will also make them more responsible as they will not be able to pass on the buck to a third party vendor for any of their own lapses.

Hello Team, Regarding safety and security in train I like to draw your attention firstly towards safety of passengers. The initiative of door autolock in atleast fast and superfast trains can be taken care.It is similar like metro trains, only at the respective stations trains gate can be locked/unlocked. This way atleast we can stop the theif from boarding a train in between or on outer can be totay stopped. This will be benefited for both public as well as government towards safety & security.

Yes, Spectrum in 700 MHz band should be assigned to IR for RSTT in India. I agree with Submissions of IR from Para 1.6 to 1.16 in C.P. If it does happen in coming years, it is good for Nation and Peoples. do complete safely by a link between google and TRAI , it would be strong safely to locate everything with help of google permission. Through this missions it would be a great effort to make sustainability of BSNL.
