Department of Telecommunications (DoT) through their letter dated 27th February 2019 has informed that Indian Railways has proposed to install an Ultra-high-speed LTE based communication corridor along their network for Train-Ground and Train-Train communication. In this connection Indian Railways has requested DoT to reserve 15 MHz of spectrum in 700 MHz band for the purpose and to begin with 10 MHz to be allocated free of cost as the proposal is devoid of any commercial gain, but only for enhancing security and passenger amenities. Through the said letter, DoT has also requested TRAI to provide recommendations on administrative allotment of spectrum to Indian Railways and the quantum, price, appropriate frequency band (including 450-470 MHz band) and any other related issue.

A Consultation Paper on “Allotment of Spectrum to Indian Railways for Public Safety and Security Services” has been released to discuss the issues involved. Written comments on the issues raised in the Consultation Paper are invited from the stakeholders by 22nd July 2019 and counter-comments by 5th August 2019.

For any clarification / information Shri S.T. Abbas, Advisor (Networks, Spectrum & Licensing), TRAI may be contacted at Telephone Number +91-11-23210481.

Moto is safety& Security .... let’s welcome the idea. I have few points to make 1. GPS tracking for all the train. 2. Reaching Station announcement and display boards in each train. 3. Food quality check & maintenance. 4. Maintain proper sanitation. 5. Stop encouraging third party selling inside the train or stations. 6. Have patriotic writing / slogans and route based important places pictures/photos on trains and in-side. 7. Drinking water facilities inside the train. Etc.

Namaste I think the allotment of spectrum to Indian railway should be done because it will improve our mobile networks while also in trains and it stops fluctuate and the public can contact their family, if necessary. especially women while traveling alone in trains. Thanks

I have a suggestion for network connectivity, ALL SERVICE PROVIDERS SHOULD GIVE ACCESS TO ALL NETWORKS NEARBY THE RAIL LINES OR THE STATIONS, network providers should go for nation first policies, better connectivity will find better solutions, if not there should be a SATELLITE TO GSM NETWORK CONVERTER installed in all trains so each and every network can be accessed and network providers can pay cheap rent for that, IF NETWORK IS THERE, safety & security will be there by default.

Railway plays a very big part of the transportation system so any initiative to upgrade it should be appreciated. When we talk about the reform there are lots of issues to be address. Some are 1. Facilities at platforms like sanitation, proper wainting room, availability of enquiry officers, esclators/lifts etc. 2.doubling the rail lines and electrified too. This will reduce carbon emission and travel time. 3.an effective monitoring and complaint resolving plateform etc. Thanks

Gov, should help farmers to sell the harvested goods in nearby cites as well. Weekly once special trains should connect 100 districts and 4 states. This will be a great opportunity for farmers to sell their goods
