I have mainly seen below challenges with this industry.
1. Not able to compete cost wise with machines
2. Not able to market their products well.
I believe problem is that this sector is not organized and there are too many small players, probably we should think about Amul like cooperative model for this industry. I think, it could be a game changer.

इनको बढ़ावा देना चाहिए क्योंकि आज हाथ से बने सारी वास्तु का ना केवल इंडिया बल्कि विदेशो में भी डिमांड बढ़ा हैं। इसलिए हमे इसका व्यापार बढ़ाना चाहिएं।

Handloom production and employees job opportunities are being developed by Government of INDIA and Ministry of Textile technology has been greatly. Textile industry are very valuable for built up human society.
Today CORONAVIRUS enemy .So human society health is more important thing. Clothing mask is very important thing. Cotton clothing products are valuable for built up human health today's time. Handloom project will be helpful to use of Textile technology knowledge.

Dear Modi Ji,
Govt should give some monetory incentive so that people feel more encourage to make handloom products. Govt should encourage online retailers like Amazon , flipkart to sell more handloom products.
we should have a handloom day ,that day people use handloom products, tax deduction will be given if people or hotel use all handloom products.
