The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP. For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Very good morning sir, firstly for circulate better skill you should have better skilled person to execute it so we need good and promising faculty in our colleges and proper facility for a students to explore there talent on the ground level , I m not talking about the prime colleges ,its about the private colleges in small town. Most important sector to improve is syllabus of engineering students because after 4 years they full marks but due lack of knowledge didn't get the job. Thank you

Good Morning Mr. Modi. I would like to listen from you after every parliament session, Like, What did your gov did in the last session, whats your target for the net session & how would you execute them. What were the challenges that you faced in the last session and how did you overcome. People in India wont be able to listen to every day when but if you summarise us thrice a year regarding your targets, acheivements & challenges, then your work would be more transparent to us. Many Thanks

Companies that hire from local polytechnics and under trainees should be given tax rebates. Students pursuing these qualifications should be given low interest loans to be repaid upon employment in the mining sector. Instead of long term BTech and MTech courses, focus should be on short term courses on specific areas of mining such as soil analysis, instrumentation, plumbing, etc. Short courses will lead to quick turn around in skilled manpower. Australia has a fairly good model of the same.

The best incentive structure, in any sector, is the one that motivates an employee towards higher individual productivity and thus contributing to better organizational level performance. It is important to realize, an often neglected fact, that performance and safety of the man digging the earth several hundred feet below the surface is directly proportional to overall performance of the organization. Hence, make everyone an equity stake holder in the organization, besides industry standard pkg.
