1) Promote multi-sensory yoga which targets 3 senses- sound, smell & sights. Color affects our moods so color studio accordingly. Likewise, soothing sounds or music can make participants more comfortable. Using aromatherapy like calming fragrances, yoga sessions can be more relaxing for people with autism, disability etc. 2) Introduce Hybrid Yoga combining CrossFit, acrobatics, Pilates etc. 3) Work from home through online platforms causes too much stress on Eyes. Suggest to have Eye Yoga to handle concerns like dry eyes, redness & irritation & help to decrease strain & fatigue. 4) Design the yoga class with the art of breathing to bring balance to the body & mind. 5) Yoga teaching requires to be a Great Communicator- the way one address, tone that everyone can hear, words one can well understand. Teaching style is important too. 6) Organize special yoga sessions in factories, offices, labour colonies. 7) Treat Yoga as Personal Eminence which creates high value. Share Success Stories.

1) Promote guided meditation yoga practice to provide more health benefits like better sleep, lower stress& anxiety, more awareness & concentration. In this process, don’t try to get rid of thoughts. Resisting thoughts will only lead to more thoughts. Drop expectations while mediation. 2) Remove myths that yoga is for girls or yoga is not a proper workout or only advanced yogis will reap benefits or yoga is all the same. Yoga is not a one size fits all workout. 3) Publicize which type of Yoga is Best for Beginners or Intermediate etc. 4) Provide guide on basic warm ups yogas for beginners. 5)Build a New Brand that do not undervalue India. 6)Provide Good efficient services to make Yoga competitive. 7) Yoga is not entertainment thus, guide everyone that yoga practice is not the same as going to Zumba or aerobics or to the movies. Entertainment is a sort of escape from reality/ distraction. But yoga is no escape and is a meditation practice 8)Introduce Capsule yoga classes of 15 minutes

Global momentum is growing, and is being led by our Region. In March, WHO and the Government of India signed an agreement to establish the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Jamnagar, India. The GCTM – which is supported by an investment of USD 250 million from the Government of India – has a strategic focus on evidence and learning, data and analytics, sustainability and equity, and innovation and technology, with the overall aim of optimizing the contribution of traditional medicine (TRM) to global health and sustainable development.

On the International Day of Yoga, WHO is privileged to celebrate the physical and mental health benefits of yoga and highlight its contributions to life-long health and well-being, promoting healthier populations, and a healthier, more equitable and sustainable Region and world.
And we keenly observe: Yoga is just one of many systems and/or forms of knowledge, skills or practices used in the Region to prevent, diagnose, improve or treat physical and mental illness, and which may be integrated into preventive and promotive health strategies at the primary health care level, as highlighted in the Region’s new Strategy for Primary Health Care.

Notably, yoga has been shown to have immediate psychological benefits, decreasing anxiety and stress, and increasing feelings of emotional and social well-being. Unlike other forms of physical activity, which can be tiring, yoga can help lower heart rate and activate the parasympathetic nervous system. It can even be performed by people who are sick. Throughout the COVID-19 response, yoga has helped hundreds of millions of people from all countries and cultures stay healthy and well, consistent with the conviction – expressed in WHO’s constitution – that health is not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, but rather a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being.

Schools, workplaces, civil society organizations and communities should consider incorporating yoga into daily activities, supporting each country’s mission to achieve a 15% relative reduction in physical inactivity by 2030 – the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target.

According to WHO
The theme of this year’s International Day of Yoga is “Yoga for humanity” – a theme both fitting and timely. Yoga is beneficial for people of all ages and incomes. It can be practiced anywhere, at any time, and by people of all countries and cultures.
Yoga is a powerful tool for individuals, communities and countries to improve not only physical but also mental health, and to prevent and control noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) – one of the WHO South-East Asia Region’s eight Flagship Priorities. The four major NCDs – cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes – account for more than 80% of all premature NCD deaths, of which 85% occur in low- and middle-income countries, including in the Region.
