First and foremost we need politicians out of sports administration. Just the way one needs to complete medical studies to become a doctor, same way, a person should be a sportperson or completed some formal sports management course to be an administrator. Government can start with setting up institutes designed to focus on sports administration along the lines of those in Australia. We also need to to create world class facilities in every town so that citizens are motivated to participate.

In the US and China, even school events are pushed on television, are provided small to medium corporate backing, which encourages parents and kids to follow their dreams into whatever sports they want to pursue, same model has to follow suit here in India , otherwise it will be very difficult to encourage parents to break the shell of letting their kids spend more time in the field then on their books.... its a career choice, and its a tough one, already posted enough i guess.... :)

The government will first have to take vested interests in creating world class facilities, because with nothing to show, you cannot encourage kids or parents to follow sports, only then people will show a change because government did. Its a shame that a couple of years back, our kabbaddi world champion team was left to shatters on road, such incidences with world champions doesn't bode well for other's to follow sports, we have to end this sarkari culture

1) Ensure the exit of all the political leaders from the sports arena found in any form or capacity. 2) follow the experience of China in identification of sports talent from childhood and develop their skills at the government cost till they qualify for Olympics 3) Give equal importance to other games including athletic events like cricket and create infrastructure in all the state capitals to begin with. 4) Let us keep Olympics in mind and work accordingly by fixing targets to the authorit

Politicians must be kept out of any sports federations / body. Our country lacks sports culture. A true sports culture needs to be created and there should be adequate incentives by the government to encourage both students & parents to go for sports activity, take it seriously and engage in it consistently. Participation of private sector for sponsorship can also be ensured at local, state level. Cost of activities for participants to be kept minimal so that it can not hinder partici

We can use the media and the business houses to promote other world sports which will take time, but home grown sports are easy to promote....... And we have to make sure, that a body is created which is excellent in scouting, managing a players career, because at the end of the day its all about financial stability. People from sports background should be involved in such processes rather than politicians with zilch knowledge. Someone like Ian thorpe retires at the age of 24 , that's the way

We should go the way United states went, American football has the highest TRP which generates liquidity for players eventhough its not a world sport, same way promote Indian sports, apart from world sports, we have the largest media conglomeration in the world, its shouldn't scare us, secondly, age gaps, because parents in India still don't find sports-persons earning handsomely apart from cricket, we have to change that mentality because other sports don't earn much, 500 letters too less 2 des

To make India sports super power first existing sports persons happy and satisfied with the facility. Any sports club, sports council, federation and even ministry must not recruit, appoint any political persons but must have all of them sports persons. In schools there should be compulsory one sports/games as a regular subject and its grade/marks should be counted so that the students and parents will be more conscious about the performance as they do with other subjects. Thanks.

To make India a sports superpower, need to do the following: 1. Choose 12 sports (4 team and 8 individual) and focus on them. 2. Create or promote EPL/IPL/ISL style leagues in the team sports (my suggestion: football, hockey, volleyball, another sport) to generate enthusiasm and build passion for the sport. Left cricket and Kabaddi out intentionally due to different reasons. 3. Individual sports to be promoted can be: Badminton, Tennis, Shooting, Wrestling, Boxing, Atheletics (both track & field), Swimming, Gymnastics. Need to build IBL/IPTL kind of leagues to generate interest among the citizens for these sports. 4. Restart national games afresh and make it an annual event. Try to generate the kind of media attention that can be paralleled to Olympics or Asian Games. Wherever National Games are held, students should be given free passes and also crowd managers need to ensure such students are coming to watch the National Games. A filled stadium makes a big difference in building passion for sports. 4. Grassroot development with corporate support - Sports should be part of formal education with exams (can include mental sports like chess also). - Each student can choose a primary sport and a secondary sport based on his/her passion and skills. - Each school to have mandatory house-based sports activities aligned to national sports mission. - There should be district level competitions with all schools participating, followed by state and national competitions across all age groups. Scouting should be done in these competitions. Govt should support scouting aggresively. Scouting should be in multiple-layers to avoid corruption. - KVs should have special sports quota with free education and boarding, which needs to be filled with children selected by scouts only. - Build state-of-the-art infra at all KVs for the selected sports (team and individual). Keep good quality and highly trained coaches in all KVs for the selected sports. - Assist the best sportsmen from the KVs to join clubs/franchisees in case of team sports, and assist the players of individual sports to participate in the national/international competitions from an early age.
