I have noticed Indians whereever they go,(whether in Indian embassies all over the world, or govt. servants inside the country) they will just stick on to rules to jeopardise the situation rather than doing good for reason. Also I have noticed that, Indian talk much, but worth nothing. I have hundreds of examples being an indian. it is high time to change the mindset or system. when I was in gulf, I had noticed, most law breaking citizens who had to suffer jail terms, due home atmos.

I did go to consulate in NY few times. I must say that everyone dreads going to the consulate as it is never a good experience. No lines are maintained , no information is given to people waiting there, no heating or cooling. I hear it is even worse now that visa services are out sourced to Cox and King.

An embassy is a place in a foreign country that should welcome it's citizen. Visiting an Indian Embassy in any foreign country is generally a horrible experience. Citizens of India are treated like dirt by their own people. Contrast this with an embassy of the US. You feel like you are at home when you visit a US embassy. You are welcomed and importantly spoken well to. While processes themselves might take the same time, it's the warmth and behavior of officers that goes a very long way.

1) Improve the infrastructure of the embassies in different countries especially ones in Arab countries where there is more concentration of NRIs 2) There should be effective attempts to engage with the diaspora and help them connect 3) There could also be a Youth Ambassador program similar to those of US, Australia etc which helps the youth to connect and be more interested in India . 4) There must be better hospitality in the embassy and the staff must undergo respective courses. I am working in Saudi Arabia since long time. I came across many Indian workers who are working with very less salary like 500-600 S.R./month. Their employer are openly violating the Saudi Labor law and giving very less salary. Indian embassy should look into their grievances and take appropriate action to improve their conditions. It is very difficult to live with 500-600 S,R,salary. Thanks,

I've been to the one in NYC. It is dirty, all the useful offices are in the basement which is small. I suggest that the officers who occupy the rest of the building move down and sit in the basement. Our work should be done in larger and better office space. The embassy is worse than a DMV even in Newark!

I have visited the embassies at UAE, Canada, and Washington D.C.My comments and suggestions: 1. Although CAN wasn't the best experience, at least it wasn't horrible like UAE and DC in terms of the treatment meted out being arrogant and insolent.2. It is pathetic to see our embassy housed in poorly maintained and lack lustre buildings in comparison to much smaller countries and weaker economies.More to come after changes are effected.
