Suggest each consulate office form an advisory committee of Indians in their charge and have a meeting with them at least once a year to hear problems, issues that Indians may have. At that meeting, the Indian consulate/embassy officials may brief them about programs that may interest Indians in that country. If an Indian in a foreign country accomplishes something unique, the local consulate/embassy should at least acknowledge their achievement, may be through an award, letter or anything.

When we send a letter to any Indian government for a response, we never receive a reply from them. Suggest that all Indian embassies accept letters in foreign country and forward to the respective govt. office in India for response. The respective office should be required to reply within say 90 days. Indian embassy may charge a nominal fee for this forwarding service, say $5 per request.

Commercial attache in Indian embassy should join hands with local private enterprises to promote Indian made products within GCC and other foreign countries. Conduct exhibitions, obtain approvals from local authorities, open exclusive promotional show rooms for Indian products.

Embassy employees in Gulf countries must be more pro active and show consideration to Indian expatriates and their problems. They should be trained to deal with any situation so that the interest of Indian people are protected. Embassy labour attache should visit Indian labour camps & check living conditions there.

Gulf based Embassy should have more staff to provide services, people are found standing in que from early morning at embassy gate in the Gulf countries where large number of Indian expatriates are employed. Most such people cannot go for work as the day is lost at embassy taking away productivity or resulting in loss of pay. Embassies in GCC countries should open more service centers convenient to the expatriate residential locations to enable them to reach embassy for services.
