1.Water facility in the public toilets should be increased.In the sea shore temple city toilets itself water is not available, and locked out.It could have been easy to get water in these areas,failing which indicates the administrative issues.At the Masi festival time in Tiruchendur (TN) public toilet this situation exists. 2.And more over the cleaning people should be given separate clean place to eat. 3.The cleaning people of public toilet should be paid more as their task is very difficult.

First improve maintenance of public toilets. Now they are always dirty and no one like to use them. Second increase the no. of public toilets and also make it mandatory for all public places like shops, hotels, offices to have good and clean toilets. Then go for penal provisions for public urination etc.

We should start taking strict action against people who urinate and spit in public places. Getting rid of Gudka/ similar chewable tobacco by completely shutting off its supply can be a good area to start with. This kind of a disgusting wall/road (pic) cannot be seen in any other progressive country.

(V) Now, let the sponsor groups fund cleanliness drive in these areas on a rotational basis. This won’t strain any one group financially. Volunteer groups need not be given salaries, but any monetary help for their mission can be extended.

(iv) Rope in more ‘safai karmacharis’ and maintenance workers. We can include able- bodied beggars, homeless people and people from extremely lower income groups in this mission. It will give them a chance to earn livelihood. Similarly, make a list of volunteer groups and allot them specific ‘target areas’….

I recently read about two individuals in Pune who have adopted public toilets n r funding their cleaning n maintenance. This gives me a few ideas- (i) Divide a region (eg. a city) up for ‘safai’ into small units i.e. ‘target areas’. (ii) Make an appeal to individuals, citizen groups, societies and various organizations to come forward for funding. (iii) Allot specific areas to specific groups. Eg. 25 societies in a particular area can take the responsibility of 2 toilets in that area……

i would like to focus that there must be dustbins installed at toll plazas and petrol pumps so that if travelers have some kind of litter in their vehicle they can dispose off the same at these locations rather than throwing them on streets .. Also it must be made mandatory to have a small dustbin in all individual, commercial or govt vehicle, ignoring the same must have heavy penalty too...

i would like to focus on non availability/ poor condition of rest rooms/ wash rooms at Petrol Pumps and Toll plazas , i travel frequently in northern part and have noticed that either there are no rest rooms available at toll plazas and petrol pumps and even if they have 90% available have pathetic condition which fores traveler to use open areas ..Oil companies must ensure the availability & condition of rest rooms at filling stations with toll companies too providing the same..

im support your though that every home should have their own toilets but in my willage people use toilets only in rainy season a otherwise they go to farms

slums will have own dustbins through NGO's, rotary clubs, lions club etc. villages will have own. Idea is if you get money in return for the waste, it will be self managed.
