I wonder how will Swachh Bharat initiative impact the hawkers in India, especially those in metros like Mumbai. Here the issues are: (1) Hawkers encroach upon public roads and spaces like footpaths/bridges etc. to sell their wares. (2) Their operations of selling street food result in spreading of diseases due to poor water and hygiene factors. (3) Their operation sometimes create huge amount of garbage which they cannot manage to dispose due to overflow etc. What should be the solution to this?

CENTRAL GOVT. AND STATE HEALTH MINISTRIES SHOULD BE MORE ACTIVE AND PROACTIVE RELATED TO SWINE FLU KITS AND TAMMY FLU TABLETS AND VACCINES. HEALTH MINISTRY IS SLEEPING AS THERE IS SHORTAGE OF KITS AND MEDICINES. HEALTH OFFICIALS ARE SAYING ONCE TEMPERATURE GOES UP IN SUMMER SWINE FLU VIRUS WILL DIE. THIS IS A BIG JOKE I REQUEST P.M TO TAKE NOTE OF THIS MATTER MOST URGENT.

1. Industries with empty plastic bins can donate them to concerned voluntary organisations so that the same can be distributed in needy places particularly in crowded areas which may serve the purpose in addition to the routine corporation work. 2. Waste polythene bags may be distributed in similar way to the people who live dense areas to avoid littering around their nearby places. 3. In classrooms, students can be grouped and endorsed with the work of promoting pot grown plants competitively.

Waste management unit will become the source of income to govt.

In urben areas disposal of waste being a biggest problem. Opening a waste management unit we can reduce environmental pollution. Metals, plastic & glass are to be recycled. Bio degradable waste are to be composting. Non bio degraded wastes are to be burned to get thermo electrical energy. Non recyclable plastics are to use as tar to form roads.

First we have to educate the proper disposable of wastes. It will reduse the effort of cleaning.

tobacco should be banned at public places so that no one can spit here and there i think there should be sulabh toilets at every 500metres distance at more density place

Cleanliness can be enforced in Colleges, Organisations, Schools...so that it can be spread past in masses. Let us convince then to keep the campus CLEAN first , then outside the campus...so on

3Ps are the key for any initiative. Policy, Process and People. Policy to ban/restrict use of certain materials. process from capture to reuse, reduce & recycle (implementation at ward/village level) and last continuous education to people using media. Lastly, governance on each of these and publish to public, to let them know their contribution.
