Yesterday I was at pune station I saw there were dust bins but people were throwing garbage on the train track. That's why I think first change people's mentality.

We have to teach to students all about cleanliness. If want to our country become the clean first we must change people mentality.

The message should create a psychological impact on the students. No students like if somebody's bad cretinism on their behavior. So, We should tell them that we are being criticized by foreign tourists for not keeping our country clean.

Finally, I think this message seen in toilets in airplanes --> "Please leave the lavatory in the state you would like to find it in" should be pasted in toilets in every single place in the country, schools included. This reminder is extremely important for people/kids to realize that it is not acceptable to leave the toilet in a state of complete mess, which offends the sensibilities of whoever is next in queue.

Another method schools could use is role play. Role play is hugely effective yet grossly underrated. Instead of having a play on cleanliness as part of annual day celebrations, which only involves a few students, schools should use role play at the classroom level to get students to imbibe the habit of cleanliness. There could be any kinds of roles like that of a litterer, a safai karamchari, a responsible citizen (who could even be a child), a parent, a teacher. There are n number of options.

Once in a month, schools can also take students out to a public place like a public park, a lake, a monument, a train station or even a bus stand, & get students involved in the task of picking up the garbage. The idea is to make kids realize that cleaning is not a menial task; that it is the responsibility of each one of us to keep our surroundings clean; that public spaces are "our own" spaces much like our home and school; that littering is not ok as it is both an eye sore and a health hazard

... Students found littering should be penalized. No corporal punishment, of course. But the students could be made to undertake some task, say, create a presentation on cleanliness and share it with the class or some other task that disincentivizes the act of littering.

Schools should adopt the "learning-by-doing" approach for this. Schools tend to be strict about on-campus cleanliness & have dustbins placed in classrooms & other areas. Outside of school & home, however, dustbins aren't always available & kids learn to drop litter anywhere they feel like. One practical activity schools can do is to remove dustbins on random days & instruct students that on such days they are required to keep their garbage with themselves. Contd.

would request for reality test for Swachh Bhart Abhiyaan in every 3 months and Report card to be shared with the concerned department. Strict audit of the report cards should done once in every two quarters. Status at the end of the year to be shared with PMO and further action plan to be implemented. Needless to mention that the impact is getting diluted and garbage nuisance everywhere is again coming back.....
