Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene carry bags/plastic bags/plates/cups and other allied material in Union Territory of Chandigarh. As per NGT directions there is also provision of imposing fine of Rs.5, 000/- "Environmental Compensation" to the erring person/entity per event, along with seizure of such stocks.

With the help of this discussion platform the Administration requests you to 'report the violations' (attach pictures or other details) regarding use of plastic carry bag/plate/cup and allied items on ww.mygov.in. Also, we would like to read your suggestions/ideas as well as practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of plastic (carry bag/cup/plate and allied items) ban in Chandigarh.

You have to find alternative to plastic bags and also understand why people use plastic bags. 1. Plastic bags are free of cost can we have an alternative to plastic bags paper or cloth bags that can be provided free for bulk purchase 2. Can the brands support this initiative and provide free paper bags/cloth bags when people purchase their item 3. All malls and big super market should provide only cloth bags at nominal charge and no plastic bags

अगर लघु उद्योग के तहत सुतली और हस्त निर्मित गत्ते जैसे कारखानों को बढ़ावा दिया जाए तो प्लास्टिक बैग की समस्या खत्म हो सकती है

I've observed people throwing plastic, paper, paan masala or tobacco pouches or packages for food items. Why not fix the responsibility of creating awareness about cleanliness, hygiene and consequences on these companies? Fine must be imposed on people who spit as they have no right to spread disease. Collective accountability has also to be encouraged.

As per the rules there should be 2bins and 1 bag...viz 1 red bin for non treatable waste and 1 green bin for vegetable, garden waste and 1 bag for recyclable waste. The Govt. is doing its best but has failed to keep a check on its rules..Also there is a fine of 500 on burning garbage since it generates Carbon Monoxide , mercury, and other hazardous elements but not prevented by ignorant and unaware people. cont'd..

Poly bags must b banned fully.Fashionable ans convenient hand carry jute or cloth bags can b made in prisons and other NGOs serving un priviledged. These can b offered at economy prices so that every one can buy & use these. Further local srteet vendors use poly bags to sell their merchandise. In all weekly bazaars FASHIONABLE yet economic longer lasting bags can b sold by NGOs,ISÇON,RSS,ABVP volunteers. It is just making aam aadmi ( oh not AAP) to get used to these eco friendly bags.
