The City “Mangaluru” in Karnataka has been selected as one of the Smart Cities to be developed under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India's Smart City Mission. In order to participate in the 'City Challenge' proposal competition, Mangaluru is now required to formulate its own unique Vision and prepare the Smart City Plan in consultation with the citizens and other stakeholders.
Mangaluru City Corporation makes a Clarian call to Mangaluru’s responsible, right thinking and smart citizenry to post their valuable suggestions and recommendations to make Mangaluru a truly Smart Global City.
Your valuable suggestions would help Mangaluru to formulate a Smart City Vision, Goals and Strategy to achieve objectives.

The citizens are also requested to share their innovative and sustainable ideas and suggestions to develop Pan City Initiatives using Smart Solutions (using Information and Communication Technology) in areas of Core Infrastructure (as defined in the Smart City Mission Statement & Guidelines) and Area Based Developments to accelerate Economic Activities in the city.

Please provide your suggestions and feedback latest by 5th October 2015.

-Implement E-Services in government sectors. -Develop strategy, give importance for using Plastic money. -Metro services in city, Implement new idea in Public transport. -Underground electrical cable system in the city which will help in widening road. -Develop Wireless services in the city limit. -Expand the city by shifting Government offices by sector-wise to different places, this will help to solve traffic jam.

As all the comments over here are stating the features of the smart cities,But to build all this infrastructure we need a smart process which can reduce cost and impact the environment in sustainable way.So for all this below stated features and requirement of smart cities if we imply BIM as mandate ,we can reduce the cost and time over which these cities are built and also can make sure that these infrastructures and facilities are managed good over the operational cycle.

By adopting BIM(Building Information Modelling) process in all the smart cities we can:- Taken from BluEnt 20% reduction in build costs 33% reduction is costs over the lifetime of the building 47% to 65% reduction in conflicts and re-work during construction 44% to 59% increase in the overall project quality 35% to 43% reduction in risk, better predictability of outcomes 34% to 40% better performing completed infrastructure 32% to 38% improvement in review and approval cycles

My Ideas on building #Mangalore as #Smartcity 4. Well connected roads between Bunder(Port) / Airports / Railway stations 5. Improving infrastructure of ports / railways / bus stations 6. Constructing / building footpaths / subways(underpass) for walkers 7. Efforts to make Mangalore as Malaria free city 8. Encouraging / boosting our cultures 9. Building playgrounds and parks 10. Having a month-wise discussion related to city with higher authorities and people

Implementing Rainwater harvesting and Solar plant at least government offices / Schools / Police Stations / Panchayaths 3. Having Dustbin / Toilets / First Aid trained Security personal at the crowde
