Department of Telecommunications (DoT) through their letter dated 27th February 2019 has informed that Indian Railways has proposed to install an Ultra-high-speed LTE based communication corridor along their network for Train-Ground and Train-Train communication. In this connection Indian Railways has requested DoT to reserve 15 MHz of spectrum in 700 MHz band for the purpose and to begin with 10 MHz to be allocated free of cost as the proposal is devoid of any commercial gain, but only for enhancing security and passenger amenities. Through the said letter, DoT has also requested TRAI to provide recommendations on administrative allotment of spectrum to Indian Railways and the quantum, price, appropriate frequency band (including 450-470 MHz band) and any other related issue.

A Consultation Paper on “Allotment of Spectrum to Indian Railways for Public Safety and Security Services” has been released to discuss the issues involved. Written comments on the issues raised in the Consultation Paper are invited from the stakeholders by 22nd July 2019 and counter-comments by 5th August 2019.

For any clarification / information Shri S.T. Abbas, Advisor (Networks, Spectrum & Licensing), TRAI may be contacted at Telephone Number +91-11-23210481.

First of all the train frame must be wide so that people will not be trapped between train and platform .also plant more and more trees in railway area because we all know that our country is facing the consequences of global warming like kedaarnaath incindent. I hope you read this useful.

The trains of India today are running at a constant speed given even though train can run beyond the speed , now with this GPS location , trains can change the constant speed to the optimum speed above the constant speed using the full energy and control the train traffic as the GPS location of the train and train before and after them is shared by means of RPS with radars makes the trains to adjust the speed accordingly rather than running at constant speed make train to run early not late

It seems more plausible to explore the 450-470 MHz band rather than 700 MHz range. Also, since the government plans suggest disinvestment in railways, it doesn't seem appropriate to provide it free. It would be better to subsidize it rather than make it completely free. The cost deductions seem appropriate for research and manufacture of hardware required to operate in 450-470MHz range though not available publicly.

Excellent idea. However Railways must ensure not only clean environment inside coaches but also security for passengers, both men and women. This is especially so for Sr.citizens. CCTV camera will add more confidence. Important is that bottled water must be pure and of good quality .
