The District Administration Baghpat invites citizens, youth, innovators and institutions from across India on MyGov to share innovative and practical ideas to transform the Shri Parshurameshwar Pura Mahadev Mahashivratri Mela into a Zero Waste Mahotsav on theme “Bhakti Bhi, Prakriti Bhi”.

Building on the successful implementation of a Zero Waste model during Falguni Mahashivratri 2026 celebrations, this initiative aims to further strengthen sustainable practices and develop Baghpat as a model for green and responsible religious gatherings in India.

Aligned with the vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Swachh Bharat and sustainable tourism, the initiative promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, reduction of waste, resource efficiency and community participation in large public events.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?
1. Participants are encouraged to submit practical, scalable and innovative ideas in areas such as:
a. Waste management and zero waste systems
b. Plastic-free alternatives for melas and religious events
c. Eco-friendly materials and green infrastructure
d. Awareness campaigns and behavioural change strategies
e. Volunteer and youth engagement models
f. Use of technology (apps, QR-based services, monitoring systems, etc.)
g. Sustainable tourism and visitor management

How to participate?
1. Submit your idea in maximum 200–300 words
2. Focus on solutions that can be practically implemented on ground
3. You may include examples, models or case references

What will happen to your ideas?
Selected ideas will be reviewed by the District Administration and considered for implementation during the Shravani Mahashivratri Mela scheduled in second week of August 2026. Selected contributions may also be recognised as part of a district-led innovation initiative and documented as good practices.

This is an opportunity to contribute to building a national model of sustainable religious events, promote environmental responsibility, and strengthen citizen participation in governance. Your ideas can help demonstrate how tradition, technology and sustainability can work together for a better future.

Sir as recently US ambassador Sergio gor came to Tamilnadu to visit Cm Joseph Vijay which in my context is not a simple meeting but may be something fishy going on as ambassador wrote it a meeting between two nations. Tamilnadu is a state of India not a country so objection should be raised upon his statement, also it is a state where Christian missionaries are active and Sergio too is a core Christian and it was also a spot for LTT, moreover tamilnadu is very important state as it holds navy bases along with nukesites and other important things, so my point is all these meetings should not at all happen behind the close doors where any foreign people come to any state or meet any cm or opposition, all meetings should be open and controlled centrally as now deep state could not shake the PM of India so now they are trying to shake the states of India.

1) Apply Ambikapur Model (Chhattisgarh) and engage local community leaders as Prakriti Mitra and providing structured incentives (like social recognition or fast-tracked civic services). Public behavior can be shifted from littering by habit to a self-policing community. 2) Introduce (Express Green Entry pass or Prakriti Darshan Lane) given to pilgrims who actively present 5-10 pieces of littered plastic waste picked up from roads to a volunteer collection booth. 3) Introduce Shiv Shakti Paryavaran Sena with authority to issue Swachhata Card violations or reward tokens. Give their identities like green jackets, whistles, badge. But they should not force or irritate the pilgrims. 4) Install low-cost IoT (Internet of Things) weight and fill-level sensors in all trash hubs with alerts when bins filled at 80% to pickup or empty. 5) Integrate Katha & Pravachan leaders to include message on Prakriti reminding pilgrims cleanliness is next to godliness.

1) Ban single-use plastics and thermocol. Enforce the use of traditional “Pattals” and “Donas” (pressed-leaf plates/bowls), bamboo spoons, and clay “kulhads” for tea and water. 2) Create selfie spots using living flower walls, terracotta art, and recycled woods. 3) Arrange free live Nukkad Natak multiple show multiple points towards cleanliness or environment matter. 4) Place QR-Code for Plastic Deposit System. The security personnel can attach a trackable QR sticker to any plastic item a pilgrim carry (like medicine bottles or essential plastic water bottles ). A small security deposit (e.g., Rs 5-10) is charged digitally at entry points which can be refunded to their UPI account only when they scan the QR code at a designated exit-point return booth. If a plastic bottle to be trashed at designated bin, award something. 5) Have dry neat and clean and smell free mobile toilets.

1) Divide the Mela ground into multiple sanitation zones. Every Bhandara organizer or shop must sign a mandatory "Green MoU" with the District Administration to receive their stall license. 2) Place Reverse Vending Machines or manual collection kiosks on pathways to eliminate Single-Use Plastic water bottles. When pilgrims drop the bottle back, the QR is scanned and the Rs5-10-20/-is instantly refunded via a UPI gateway. Money is to motivate to eliminate plastic. 3) Set up collection bins for Belpatra, flowers, etc. offerings and partnered with local groups to convert this floral waste into organic incense sticks (agarbatti), natural dyes, or holy compost (Prasad Khaad) and can be sold to pilgrims or free return gift. 4) Construct a piping system that channels offered milk/curd/water liquid safely into separate holding tanks. This mixture can then be distributed freely to local gaushalas or can be tried to use for agricultural biogas generation instead of clogging local drain.
