MyGov Talk with Hon. Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar on Climate Change

In the run-up to COP (Conference of Parties) 21 scheduled in Paris from 30th November to 11th December 2015, MyGov and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change are pleased to announce a MyGov Talk with the Honourable Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar on the 26th October 2015 at 5.00PM in collaboration with Google India.

With India's Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC), the country is keen to attempt to work towards a low carbon emission pathway, while simultaneously endeavouring to meet all the developmental challenges that the country faces today. The INDC aims at promoting clean energy, especially renewable energy, enhancement of energy efficiency, development of less carbon intensive and resilient urban centres, promotion of waste to wealth, safe, smart and sustainable green transportation network, abatement of pollution and India’s efforts to enhance carbon sink through creation of forest and tree cover.

Citizens are invited to share their ideas, questions and inputs on India's role in COP21 and on the following proposals laid down by INDC:

• Sustainable Lifestyles
• Cleaner Economic Development
• Reduce Emission intensity of Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
• Increase the Share of Non Fossil Fuel Based Electricity
• Enhancing Carbon Sink (Forests)
• Adaptation
• Mobilizing Finance
• Technology Transfer and Capacity Building

Selected ideas and names would also be mentioned by the Hon. Minister and other experts during the MyGov Talk.
Contributors from MyGov, Climate Change Experts, senior journalists and social media influencers will join the panel discussion with Shri Prakash Javadekar.

Board of Directors of firms, companies etc. may have independent subject experts of repute as members. 4.Prior Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) – mandatory – to avoid wastage of precious national resources. Sir, Following are my suggestions * Lower the tax of electric bikes and cars and set up solar powered recharge stations in cities. * Increase the tax of plastic carry bags (also banning plastic bags) and decrease the tax or zero tax to degradable bags such as cloth bags. * Simultaneous generation of biogas and electricity is possible; i.e, food waste can be converted into something useful. * Bring back our old way(biofarming methods) for agriculture rather than using chemicals.

honble sir, recently germany has adopted wind farms technology where the wind mills are installed in ocean and the wind energy from the ocean is utilised to generate 50% of its electricity. it also uses a sea photo voltaic cell to run its airports and the technology itself is amazing. the details are posted in the nat geo magzine. why cant we use this technology to reduce our dependance on mineral resources to generate electricity?

Increase share of non fossil fuel based electricity 1. Launch national scheme for setting up solar power wind power stations in villages in PPP model.this initiative can be driven through PM Adarsh Gram Yojana. Private sector power companies can be brought in to build village level power plants and distribute power. LED lights can be provided by Govt. This initiative will reduce use of kerosene to light houses.

Honourable Minister,Environmental science is just taught as a subject where students learn to obtain the marks.They are not involved in any task or activity like educational trips,demonstration of simple activities like composting,rain water harvesting or making some eco-friendly things just by using household waste etc.Encouraging activity based learning is the best way to foster sustainable lifestyle practices among students through education as we know "Students are the future of nation".

Following are few ways which can reduce some impact on Environment. 1)Set up large scale Biogas plants with domestic wet-waste feed to supply piped biogas to urban households. 2)Encourage E-rickshaw concept in large cities. 3)Use solar-power based street lighting. 4)Covering of open water canals with solar panels. 5)Manufacturing of solar panels domestically to reduce costs.
