Encourage bio-toilets & self cleaning toilets.

Stylish toilets will hold back people from soiling them, encourage clean usage. Installing prefabricated toilet units like in Japan would be cost effective, good standards, easy to install. and will generate new industry. The installation and upkeep can be outsourced to private firms under PPP. Sensor based Automation in cleaning will reduce Manual Scavenging. Solar panels can be used to power energy needs

We need to have low maintenance bio and/or eco toilets.

People trust Rotary regarding its financial matters. Every particular club has to register a Rotary trust to perform any social service. Nowadays District Charity Commissioner refuses to sanction registration giving unreasonable excuses to such trusts, just because Rotary clubs do not bribe the officers. This is a grave problem that prevents poor to get benefitted by Rotary’s work. An order should be issued to DCC to grant permissions to form Rotary Trusts and attempt to serve the poor.

Until people know how to use toilets in public places, like busy markets, sulabh is the answer. Increase the pay to toilet to Rs 5 and fine those who urinate in open: on the spot: Rs 100 /-. Do not let urinals open in areas where food is sold at the nearest ...and vice versa. Ckeck on after use, may help to keep clean: by fine if used in filthy manner. very essential to change the culture to clean toilet use, or else toilets will be a nuisance of odour than an advantage towards cleanliness.

Jaipur has couple of public toilets all around.Toilets are clean and maintained properly but still i observed that some people are not using these toilet rather than they peed on adjacent of toilet. This is really shameful. One more thing these toilets are closed after 6 pm and market flood with rush usually after 7 pm . It must be open till 12 am.so that accessibilty of toilets can be maximize in rush hours.

Mass production of standard ,cost effective ,Mobile or Easy to assemble Toilets ,from moulded plastic (recycled) components. (Plastic , as a cheap packing and container material, will remain popular and we can control the plastic waste to great extent by recycling ). Instead of recycled plastics, locally available cheap raw materials can also be used. Please see attachment

My suggestions 1) Western commode as Public toilets in cities or in villages is a very unhygenic solution. Indian type is the best. 2) Improve on Maintenance (which is very poor) 3) In villages, plan for cost effective, self sustainable proper drainage system. 4) Aim for All houses in villages to have a toilet. This should be top priority of govt. 5) For ppl participation, many may be interested in contributing financially.

The major reason for not making toilet in village is the thinking of peoples. They think we can't sit for this activity near kitchen of our home, that's why the prefer to go away from home. We need marketing to change the thinking.

1. make auto cleaning public pay toilets available for 500m at par in cities with security guard. 5 am to 9 pm. 2. for poor in urban/semi urban areas govt. can provide them with prefabricated concrete units/plastic and connect the drain pipes to the common main drainage canal. 3. for village poor people we have to provide them with a prefabricated pit + top shell as a single unit. ofcourse pit must have a drain outlet. i hope this will work and no need to distribute and waste people money.
