Bilaspur Smart City Talk

As per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Urban Development for smart city challenge, the third Stakeholder/Citizen consultation meeting is being organized by Bilaspur Municipal Corporation on 1/11/2015. The meeting will start at 4:00pm at Lal Bahadur Shastri School, Dikshit Sabha Bhavan.

Discussion on the options of Pan city and Area Development projects will be carried out during the talk show.

The meeting will be headed by Member of Parliament (C.G.) Mr. Lakhan Lal Sahu, in the presence of Mayor Bilaspur Mr. Kishor Rai, Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Ranu Sahu. Members of Laghu Udyog Sangh, Merchant Association, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and Lions Club will also be present in the talk show.

Rain water harvesting system should be established in every govt office and organizations and private organizations . * sewage and waste disposal is one of the biggest problem. This can be solved if govt organizations like DLW , which has its own STP and waste management, allows public waste disposal. * there should be a facility such as earn while learn for students.

Firstly the major problems of city-1) waste and sewage 2) water availibility problem during summer in specific areas (especially for tribals/poor) 3) lack of basic facility like power , food, house for tribals. Suggestions--1) provide basic facility to all by creating a team or help centre for illiterate people and conduct awareness program. 2) during summer the ground water level goes down very rapidly .this Is due to dumping of waste In ponds and lakes .also due to development of houses.

Enforce strict cleanliness laws. Strictly collect fines for spitting, littering etc

We need to set our priorities and then implement effective solutions with a holistic approach. Below are some of the issues that need to be addressed to make our Bilaspur Smart (and Happy) City: 1. Cleanliness 2. Rainwater harvesting 3. Sewage/Wastewater/Effluent treatment 4. Public transportation 5. Solar projects 6. Trees plantation 7. Ban on non-reusable plastic bags 8. Roads & Traffic
