Bilaspur Smart City Talk

As per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Urban Development for smart city challenge, the third Stakeholder/Citizen consultation meeting is being organized by Bilaspur Municipal Corporation on 1/11/2015. The meeting will start at 4:00pm at Lal Bahadur Shastri School, Dikshit Sabha Bhavan.

Discussion on the options of Pan city and Area Development projects will be carried out during the talk show.

The meeting will be headed by Member of Parliament (C.G.) Mr. Lakhan Lal Sahu, in the presence of Mayor Bilaspur Mr. Kishor Rai, Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Ranu Sahu. Members of Laghu Udyog Sangh, Merchant Association, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and Lions Club will also be present in the talk show.

Starting with the ICT enablers that drive smart cities, this multi-part sampling will touch also upon energy, water, transportation, the built environment, carbon and climate, resilience, community, materials and food, finance and economic development, city business and measurement indicators.

Cities have always been in the business of making marketplaces. What we found in our new report Information Marketplaces: the New Economics of Cities launched last week with Arup, Accenture and Horizon (University of Nottingham), is that in the age of the internet and the smartphone and an explosion in the use of new tools like cheap sensors and mobile phones, cities now have new options for integrating technologies into existing infrastructure and services.

The more efficient these services are, the cheaper they are, the better for the environment, and the higher the quality of life is for everyone. This is an integral part of what in The Climate Group call the "clean revolution". And it is already taking place in city halls across the world.

The heart of the matter is that some people have more confidence in the city as a place of predictability and efficiency. Others see it as a creative place where the citizen is a generator of ideas, services and solutions, rather than a recipient.

Robert Moses (good reading for city geeks: The Power Broker) believed in central planning and the automobile at the heart of the city. Jane Jacobs believed in citizens shaping the city for themselves. She believed in (as Adam Greenfield paraphrased) "spontaneous order from below. Places are built up over time by an infinity of small acts."

In respect to smart city concept,business,economic,infrastructure development are OK, but, the real development of social harmony,human development,cultural development, etc.things are very important for peace,harmony and fruitfull helping nature of people.For that,there should be YOGA,SPIRITUAL,PRAYER CENTRE in CITY.There should be no crime.

ity needs conventional method sewer treatment plants which produced water for all domestic needs including drinking. Imagine if such small plants are set up in every colony of Bilaspur, there will be no need for laying down huge sewer and water pipelines or setting up huge sewage treatment plants
